The future of Star Wars remains unclear, though new comments have shed light on where the franchise may once have been heading.
This week marks the franchise’s first cinematic outing since Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019). While The Mandalorian and Grogu (2026) has generated mixed reviews so far, it’s still heading for a domestic opening of $80 million to $100 million over the four-day Memorial Day weekend.

As per recent reports, its final performance may dictate where Lucasfilm goes next in a galaxy far, far away. A previously announced Mandoverse film overseen by Lucasfilm co-president Dave Filoni may reportedly shift to Disney+ – if not disappear altogether – if the film fails to meet expectations.
