The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992) has become one of the most enduring adaptations of Charles Dickens’ timeless classic.
Directed by Brian Henson and starring Michael Caine as Ebenezer Scrooge, the film blends the original story with the chaos and charm of the Muppets, with Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, and the rest of the gang portraying iconic characters, including Bob Cratchit, Emily Cratchit, and Fozziewig.
Over the decades, the film has become a staple holiday experience for families, while Disney continues to support its popularity with new merchandise.

The Muppet Christmas Carol‘s Enduring Popularity
Last year, Disney released two collectible advent calendars based on the film — one was a 12-day countdown set featuring mini plush versions of characters including Kermit as Bob Cratchit and Scrooge, and the other was a 24-day limited-edition pin calendar containing 24 wreath-themed pins with a built-in display space for collectors.
In 2022, the studio also restored the missing song “When Love Is Gone,” allowing fans to enjoy the original theatrical version of The Muppet Christmas Carol on Disney+.

The Muppet Christmas Carol Returns This Winter
Now, for the sixth year in a row, the film is heading back to the big screen.
Disney’s The Muppet Christmas Carol in Concert – Live to Film is returning later this year as part of a UK-wide tour. Rather than a single performance, the production will travel across multiple cities including Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow, Edinburgh, London, and additional cities.
Here’s the official description for the event:
Disney’s The Muppet Christmas Carol in Concert Live to Film is set for a 15-date UK tour this festive season, featuring a screening of the film while the musical score is performed live by an orchestra.
The Muppets perform Charles Dickens’ classic holiday tale, with Kermit the Frog playing Bob Cratchit, the put-upon clerk of stingy Ebenezer Scrooge (Michael Caine). Gonzo, as Dickens, narrates the story with the help of Rizzo the Rat. The film also features Miss Piggy as Emily Cratchit, Fozzie Bear as Fozziwig, and Robin the Frog as Tiny Tim.
When the grumpy Scrooge receives Christmas Eve visits from the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future, they show him the error of his self-serving ways. Though the miserable old man seems beyond any hope of redemption and happiness, the kind and humble Bob Cratchit, his family, and the Spirits open Scrooge’s eyes – and his heart – to the true meaning of Christmas.
The original score was composed by Miles Goodman (“Dirty Rotten Scoundrels”, “Little Shop of Horrors”) with songs by Oscar®, Emmy® and Grammy®-winning songwriter Paul Williams (“Rainbow Connection”, “Evergreen”).
As per previous years, each showing will feature a full screening of the film accompanied by a live orchestra performing the score, bringing the music of Paul Williams and Miles Goodman into a live setting that further immerses audiences in the timeless 1992 Christmas classic.

More than three decades after its release, The Muppet Christmas Carol continues to return in new ways—on shelves, on streaming, and now on stage across the UK.
