After months of construction, Walt Disney World Resort has blocked yet another entrance to the iconic pyramid in the Mexico World Showcase Pavilion at EPCOT. According to Central Florida Disney Park guests, this latest barrier is causing crowd flow issues as families struggle to enter and exit the building at the same time. Here’s what you need to know before your next visit.
Mexico Pyramid Construction at EPCOT

For several months, the far-left entrance and exit to the pyramid in the Mexico World Showcase Pavilion at EPCOT has been closed. A sign inside encourages guests to use another exit, and scaffolding surrounds parts of the building near the door. At first, it appeared Disney was doing minor infrastructure work inside the structure, but now it seems the project may be more intensive.
On April 28, WDWNT reported that the front-left entrance to the Mexico Pavilion pyramid is now closed. On the outside, the doorway is roped off. It is similarly blocked off on the inside. The outlet shared this photo on Facebook, showing crowds clearly headed to the right side of the pyramid while the left side is blocked off:
This leaves just one entrance/exit on the right side of the structure, creating congestion as guests explore the offerings inside the pyramid: shops, the Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros attraction, and San Angel Inn Restaurante, a Table-Service dining location. Despite the crowd flow issues, everything inside the pyramid is operating normally.

Crews appear to have added extra scaffolding on the left side of the building, touching up and adding some thematic details to the pyramid’s exterior. However, Walt Disney World Resort still hasn’t indicated its plans for the structure or shared a construction timeline with guests.
