Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party has been one of the crown jewels of the Walt Disney World event calendar for years. On select nights from late summer through Halloween, Magic Kingdom transforms after dark into something genuinely different from its daytime self. The castle changes. The parades run. The Sanderson Sisters take the stage. Trick-or-treat stations appear across the park. Guests wear costumes. Characters who never appear during regular park hours suddenly materialize in the streets. For families who love Halloween and love Disney, it is the event they plan entire fall trips around.

Disney just released every detail about the 2026 edition of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, and the headline is something that has never happened at this event before.
For the first time in the party’s history, Disney Villains will be roaming the streets of Magic Kingdom as you make your way through the park. Not greeting guests at a designated meet-and-greet station. Not appearing on stage in a scheduled show. Actually out in the park, appearing as guests creep through the streets. The official announcement teases that as you move through the park on party nights, you may see new and returning Disney Villains appear unexpectedly. That kind of organic, unscripted villain presence at Magic Kingdom is genuinely new territory for this event and for the park, and it changes the atmosphere of a party night in a meaningful way.
The combination of knowing a villain might appear anywhere in the park at any moment and not knowing where or when creates a layer of Halloween unpredictability that the party has never had before. For guests who have attended multiple times and know the party’s rhythms well, this is the update that makes 2026 feel worth returning for.
Now here is everything else you need to know.

In August, party dates fall on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. September follows the same pattern with one Thursday added on September 24. October brings the most frequent party nights, with most Thursdays, most Fridays, most Tuesdays, and most Sundays included, plus Halloween itself on Saturday the 31st.
On party nights, Magic Kingdom closes to regular day guests at the end of the afternoon so the park can prepare for the event. Guests with party tickets can enter as early as 4 PM, before the official party start time of 7 PM, giving them up to eight hours in the park for the full celebration. This early entry window is worth using, particularly for guests who want shorter lines before the main party crowds arrive.
Tickets and When to Buy

Party ticket prices vary by date, with October and weekend nights typically priced higher than early-season or weeknight dates. Ticket sales open on May 5 for guests staying at select Walt Disney World Resort hotels, the Swan and Dolphin hotels, and Shades of Green. General ticket sales open on May 12 for all other guests.
Annual Passholder and Disney Vacation Club member discounts are available again this year. Tickets can be purchased at Disneyworld.com/Halloween or by calling the Disney Reservation Center at 407-934-7639. Party dates sell out, and the most popular October nights closest to Halloween tend to go first.
New Entertainment in 2026
The roaming villains are the biggest new addition, but 2026 also brings a new entertainment offering in Tomorrowland. Stitch is hosting an ever-changing dance party at the Rockettower Plaza Stage with Lilo and Angel. The concept is playfully unpredictable: after getting his paws on Lilo’s Costume Trunk, every accessory Stitch tries on sparks a theme swap, keeping the party in constant motion throughout the night. The Cadaver Dans, the beloved barbershop quartet of singing ghosts in Frontierland, also return this year.
The Party’s Signature Experiences

The Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular is back on the stage at Cinderella Castle. Winifred, Sarah, and Mary Sanderson attempt to cast their spell with help from Hades, Cruella De Vil, Jafar, Dr. Facilier, and the Evil Queen. Guests clap and sing along to add ingredients to the cauldron. It is one of the most consistently praised pieces of live entertainment Disney produces anywhere in its parks, and it anchors the party lineup every year.
Mickey’s Boo-to-You Halloween Parade runs at 8:15 PM to accommodate younger guests who need an earlier show time. Mickey, Minnie, and friends lead a procession of waltzing ghosts, Disney Princesses, and villains through the park, with the Headless Horseman making his iconic gallop down Main Street, U.S.A. before the parade begins. Vanellope from Wreck-It Ralph is among the characters confirmed for the parade this year.
Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular fireworks bring Jack Skellington to the castle as host of a spooky story featuring Zero leading Mickey and Friends through a haunted house. Projections transform Cinderella Castle while Ursula, the Queen of Hearts, and Oogie Boogie tower over the park in the sky.
For character greetings, Jack Skellington and Sally are available for meet-and-greets. Mickey and Minnie greet guests together in Halloween costumes at Town Square Theater. Pooh appears in his bumblebee costume. Festive royal couples including Ariel and Eric and Aladdin and Jasmine will also be available. The full character lineup will be announced closer to the event.
Trick-or-treating runs across more than a dozen stations throughout the park, marked on the party map. Cast members hand out Mars Wrigley favorites including M&Ms, Snickers, and Starburst. Complimentary treat bags are provided to every guest including adults. Costumes are encouraged but guests do not need to be in costume to collect candy.
Several attractions will receive Halloween overlays with special lighting and music. Specific ride transformations have not yet been announced.
How This Changes a Disney Fall Vacation
For families planning a Walt Disney World fall trip, the villain roaming element is the most significant reason to prioritize getting to the party in 2026 rather than waiting for a future year. Character and villain appearances have historically been confined to designated meet-and-greet locations, and the shift to having villains move through the park creates an experience that is genuinely different from any previous edition of the event.
The party dates also directly affect guests who are not attending the event. On any party night, Magic Kingdom closes to standard day guests at approximately 6 PM. Guests with standard park admission who have a Magic Kingdom day scheduled on a party date will lose several evening hours they may have planned around. Checking the date calendar above before finalizing any Magic Kingdom visit between August and October is essential trip planning.
For guests with young children, the early entry at 4 PM and the 8:15 PM parade time are both worth building the evening around. The party runs late enough for adults but is structured to accommodate families who need to wrap up before midnight.
Ticket sales open May 5 for resort hotel guests and May 12 for everyone else. If you want specific October dates, especially Halloween night or the final October weekends, do not wait to see how your schedule shapes up. Those nights go fast every year and 2026 has more reasons than usual to sell out early. Start planning now at Disneyworld.com/Halloween.
