On Monday, April 20, Disneyland Resort abruptly blocked off the Millennium Falcon building in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Park. Disney cast members blocked theme park guests from approaching the Lucasfilm icon, which is one of the most popular photo ops in the Star Wars-themed land.

In the early afternoon on April 20, X (formerly Twitter) user @laughingplace shared two photos of Disney cast members blocking guests from walking near the Millennium Falcon structure in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Park. The user didn’t say whether Disney cast members offered an explanation for the sudden closure.

The entire Millennium Falcon area is currently blocked off at #Disneyland’s Galaxy’s Edge.

Disneyland Resort didn’t acknowledge whether the operational change was due to a safety issue or to something scheduled in advance, such as the filming of a promo video or commercial.

How Does This Impact Guests?

Despite being unable to get close to the Millennium Falcon on Monday, operations inside the surrounding structure were unaffected. According to the Disneyland Resort app, the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run attraction continued operating normally and maintained a wait time of around 30 minutes throughout the afternoon.

However, starting April 29, there will be some visible changes in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Park. Part of the land, including Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and Oga’s Cantina, is going back in time to the setting of the original Lucasfilm trilogy, while the other half of the land stays in the sequel era. Thanks to the timeline shift, guests will soon be able to encounter Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Leia Organa in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

Starting May 22, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run at Disneyland Park and Disney’s Hollywood Studios will debut an all-new storyline inspired by The Mandalorian & Grogu (2026), which hits theaters the same day. For the first time in the attraction‘s history, guests join Din Djarin and Grogu on a mission where they choose their own destinations.
