There are moments in Disney Parks history that feel genuinely significant, not just as announcements, but as turning points. The kind of news that splits a fanbase right down the middle and sends the internet into a full day of opinions, hot takes, and ultimately, excitement. Today was one of those days. Disney has officially confirmed the opening date for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, revealed the full set list guests will experience on the ride, and teased that previews are coming for cast members, Disney Vacation Club members, and Annual Passholders before the general public gets anywhere near it.

For anyone who has been following the transformation of one of Hollywood Studios’ most iconic attractions since Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith closed permanently at the beginning of March, today was the day the full picture finally came into focus.

The Opening Date

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets opens on May 26, the day after Memorial Day. For a retheme of this scale, that timeline is genuinely fast. The ride closed just weeks ago, and Disney is turning around a completely reimagined attraction, complete with new animatronics, updated theming, a new storyline, and refreshed vehicles, in a matter of months. That kind of turnaround is only possible because the underlying ride system remains intact. The launch, the corkscrews, the inversions, all of it is still there. What Disney has done is build an entirely new world around the same hardware, and based on everything revealed today, it sounds like they built a lot.

The Muppets Story and the Setting

The new version of the attraction still takes place at G-Force Records, which has now been purchased by Scooter’s uncle, J.P. Grosse. Guests moving through the queue will find Electric Mayhem posters, celebrity cameos, and props pulled from MuppetVision 3D, which gives the whole experience a sense of Muppets history layered into every corner. The pre-show features Scooter, Miss Piggy, Kermit, and a crew of penguin audio engineers, and the ride’s central premise follows the same basic structure as the original. The Electric Mayhem is in the recording booth; they are late for a concert across town, and somehow you are the one who has to help get them there.

One of the most talked-about additions is a brand new Audio-Animatronic figure of Scooter, which marks a significant upgrade in both technology and storytelling for the attraction. The character has rarely been featured in a major park experience at this level, and his presence in the queue appears to be a central part of how the new narrative unfolds.

The Vehicles

Guests will no longer be boarding standard limousines. The new ride vehicles are called L.I.M.O.s, which stands for Lengthy Immediate Motion Object, a creation straight out of Muppets Labs. It is exactly the kind of absurd, self-aware detail that fits the franchise perfectly and gives the attraction its own identity rather than just feeling like a reskin of what was there before. The giant guitar and upside-down car outside the building, which have been landmarks for decades, are currently being repainted as part of the overall refresh.

The Muppets Set List

Disney also released the full set list for the attraction today, confirming exactly what music guests will hear during the ride. Dr. Teeth and The Electric Mayhem have one of the most recognizable sounds in Muppets history, and the musical component of this experience was always going to be one of the most closely watched elements of the retheme. The set list is now public and has already generated significant conversation among fans, with many comparing it to the Aerosmith tracks that defined the original version of the ride for nearly three decades.

Muppets Previews for Cast Members, DVC Members, and Passholders

Disney confirmed today that before the May 26 general opening, there will be preview opportunities for cast members, eligible Disney Vacation Club members, and Annual Passholders. Specific dates for those previews have not been announced yet, but the confirmation that they are coming gives a significant portion of the Disney community something to look forward to in the weeks ahead. Preview events for major attraction openings have become one of the most sought-after experiences in the parks, and given the level of anticipation surrounding this particular ride, those preview slots will be in high demand the moment dates are released.

What Today Means

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith ran for nearly 27 years at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It was a rite of passage for generations of parkgoers, a defining element of that park’s identity. Replacing something with that kind of legacy is never going to be universally celebrated, and Disney would know that better than anyone. But what was confirmed today suggests the company put genuine thought and craft into what comes next. A new animatronic, a deep queue filled with Muppets history, a comedic storyline that fits the franchise, and a turnaround fast enough to have guests on the ride before summer even hits its stride. May 26 is close, and at this point, the conversation has shifted from whether this retheme was the right call to just how good it is actually going to be.
