Hazmat Incident at Disneyland Park on March 10

In the early afternoon on Tuesday, reports emerged that guests had been evacuated from Space Mountain, Star Tours – The Adventures Continue, and other areas in Tomorrowland at Disneyland Park. Disney cast members stood at the entrance to The Star Trader (Space Mountain’s gift shop), the Space Mountain bathrooms, the top of the Star Wars Launch Bay, and the surrounding outdoor areas to prevent guests from entering. The 1:30 p.m. performance of the “Celebrate Happy Cavalcade” was canceled as Disney cast members evacuated guests through backstage areas.
Disneyland Resort and Anaheim Fire Department officials later confirmed to theme park journalist Scott Gustin that “building materials used by a contractor triggered a reaction backstage” near Star Tours – The Adventures Continue. At that time, officials stated that five Disney cast members had been sent to the hospital, and several others had been treated on the scene.
Update: Building materials used by a contractor triggered a reaction backstage at Disneyland. Several cast members were treated on site by paramedics and released, while 5 experiencing dizziness and shortness of breath were taken to local hospitals.
