Cinderella Castle Repainting
On August 31, 2025, Walt Disney World Resort announced that in 2026, it would restore Cinderella Castle to its original blue-and-gray color scheme at Magic Kingdom Park. The Central Florida Disney Park icon has been a light pink since 2021, when it got a makeover for Walt Disney World Resort’s 50th anniversary. A large “50” medallion covered the building’s iconic clock for the duration of the anniversary celebration and was removed after it ended in 2023, but the color scheme remained long past its welcome…for many Disney Parks fans, anyway.

Work began last month, and several entertainment offerings on the castle stage were modified to accommodate construction crews. The “Let the Magic Begin” welcome show no longer features character performers, and performances of “Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire” have been shifted to later in the day. To make up for the lack of morning entertainment, Mickey Mouse and his friends have been making surprise appearances in Fantasyland.
In our latest update on February 12, Inside the Magic reported that nearly the entire backside of Cinderella Castle had been repainted gray. Crews had begun extending the color to turrets on the front side of the structure, but the building still appeared mostly pink from Main Street, U.S.A.

February 18 Updates
On February 18, WDWMagic reported that the gray color had reached the Liberty Square side of Cinderella Castle. The outlet shared this photo of the ongoing makeover on Facebook:
According to their report, Disney cast members have almost finished draining the moat around Cinderella Castle, allowing them to paint more of the front half of the building. The Magic Kingdom Park icon remains mostly pink when viewed head-on from Main Street, U.S.A.
Walt Disney World Resort has not published an exact completion date for this project, but did say it would be finished sometime in 2026.
