If you’ve been to the Walt Disney World Resort recently, the common theme has been construction. Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios are all undergoing major renovations that will shut down large portions of the parks for years to come.

However, the construction is not limited to the parks. Some of Disney World’s most expensive hotels are undergoing significant renovations that will last well into 2027, and now we can add another Disney World Deluxe Resort to that list.
Disney announced on its website that the construction project currently happening at Disney’s Contemporary Resort has been extended into 2027. This is the second time that Disney has had to extend the completion date on the Contemporary’s construction project. It was initially supposed to end this past summer.

Here’s what Disney World wrote on its website: Refurbishments will occur in phases throughout select areas of Disney’s Contemporary Resort, including the atrium and Bay Lake Tower. Guests may also see and hear construction during their stay. Disney World put the completion date as “late 2027.”
The original construction began at the Contemporary in September 2024, with Disney adding Incredibles-themed elements to the rooms. With this latest extension, that means the Contemporary will have been under construction for over three years by the time this project is complete.

Nearly every Disney World Deluxe Resort is currently undergoing or will undergo a construction project in the near future. Beach Club, Yacht Club, Animal Kingdom Lodge, Polynesian, The Grand Floridian, Wilderness Lodge, and Boardwalk Inn are all undergoing construction projects.
While some projects, such as those at The Grand Floridian, will be wrapping up soon, others will continue through 2026. In August, Disney World announced that the refurbishment schedule for the Beach and Yacht Clubs would be extended into 2027. The work was initially set to end in October; however, Disney has pushed back the completion date for the two luxury hotels by another year.

In November, Disney announced a refurbishment at the Boardwalk Inn that is expected to last until late 2026 or into 2027. That brought the total to nine Disney World Deluxe Resorts that were undergoing renovations.
With Disney World raising prices on all its hotels, especially its Deluxe Resorts, hopefully, these new construction projects won’t cause too much disruption for guests. And, hopefully, when all these projects are finally done, we’ll get a spanking new-looking Disney World.
