Credit: Carnival Cruise LineLast weekend, when the Carnival Cruise ship, Horizon, returned to port in Miami after a cruise around the Caribbean, passengers waiting to disembark were greeted by FBI agents who had been called to the cruise line after a report of a death onboard. The victim was later identified as 18-year-old Anna Kepner of Titusville, Florida.
It has now been nearly 10 days since her death, and her family, friends, and neighbors are demanding answers from the FBI and Carnival Cruiseline. Thus far, her family has not been notified of her cause of death or if the FBI suspects foul play. Also, the cruise line has not identified the people she was traveling with or who and by whom her body was found.“She was a people person,”
“She was a people person,” her family said in a statement to ABC News. “She loved being around people. She had that type of energy that just drew you in with her smile and the way she carried herself. She was such an easy person to talk to.”
Kepner was set to graduate from high school in May and was preparing for a career in the military. She was a varsity cheerleader and gymnast who had already taken the test to join the military and was discussing a career path with recruiters.
The medical examiner in Miami put the time of death as Friday, November 7, but the cruise ship didn’t dock in port until the following day. The medical examiner did not release any further details on the incident.
“Answers would be good because it’s still been over a week, and nobody knows much, other than what the news is telling you,” the mother of one of Kepner’s classmates, Dana Woolf, told Click Orlando. “And that’s just it was a death, you know. there’s always a little more details of something coming out about it, and they’re still just keeping it as simple as possible.”
Now, almost 10 days after the incident, there is still no news from the cruise line or the FBI on what exactly happened to Anna Kepner on that ship.
