Shortly before 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 12, authorities responded to reports of a “person down” just outside the perimeter of Magic Kingdom Park. The incident comes in the wake of five tragic deaths at Walt Disney World Resort hotels in less than one month.

Five Deaths at Disney World

It’s been a sad few weeks at the Central Florida Disney parks, as authorities have confirmed the deaths of five separate Walt Disney World Resort guests. It all began in mid-October, with rumors of a Monorail colliding with a guest at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Initial reports suggested that the incident was an accident, and guests were quickly evacuated from the lobby area.

However, authorities later corrected the rumors, confirming that a 31-year-old “Disney superfan” named Summer Equitz died by suicide after falling from a balcony inside Disney’s Contemporary Resort. She was reported missing by her family in Illinois after booking a last-minute flight to Central Florida. Despite initial reporting, the Walt Disney World Monorail was not involved in Equitz’s death.

On October 21, a guest in their 60s died of natural causes at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. Less than a week later, on October 23, a 28-year-old man named Matthew Cohn died by suicide after falling at Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Cohn reportedly checked into a 12th-floor room the night before, and paid in cash.

The tragedies continue into November. On November 2, a woman in her 60s died after a medical emergency at Disney’s Pop Century Resort. First responders arrived after reports of a “person down,” but were unable to revive the guest. Authorities confirmed that foul play was not involved in the woman’s death.

Then, on 8, paramedics responded to reports of an unresponsive guest at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort. Authorities haven’t shared any details about the guest’s identity, but confirmed that they sadly passed away from natural causes.

On Wednesday, the X (formerly known as Twitter) account @WDWActiveCrime shared scanner reports indicating that authorities were responding to a reported “person down” incident just outside the perimeter of Magic Kingdom Park. “Person down” often refers to someone unresponsive and doesn’t always end in tragedy, but many of the recent reported deaths at Walt Disney World Resort began as “person down” calls.

Authorities responded to an address on Caribbean Way, behind the Frontierland and Adventureland areas at Magic Kingdom Park. This isn’t unusual, as Walt Disney World Resort guests in distress are often taken into backstage areas to await emergency responders.

No other information about this incident or the person involved has been released. Inside the Magic will update readers if anything new comes to light.
