Things are changing at one of the most iconic “Walt Disney Studios” buildings in the world. The only Disney park named after the iconic building in Burbank, California, is undergoing a massive transformation, and that includes the removal of historic signage.
Walt Disney Studios Park opened at Disneyland Paris Resort in 2002, ten years after Disneyland Park. The second European Disney park was poorly reviewed and struggled to turn a profit in its early years. When The Walt Disney Company regained majority control over Disneyland Paris Resort, it promised to revitalize Disneyland Paris Resort, including an all-new Frozen (2013) land at Walt Disney Studios Park. Later, Disney announced plans for a new ride inspired by The Lion King (1994).

In April 2024, The Walt Disney Company announced that, alongside the grand opening of the World of Frozen in 2026, Walt Disney Studios Park would be renamed Disney Adventure World. Like Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort, the park has shifted focus from attractions about movie-making to rides and lands inspired by films guests know and love. The first stage of the renovation, a new park entry area called World Premiere (formerly Front Lot), debuted in May 2025.

As construction continues on the World of Frozen, The Lion King ride, and other additions to Walt Disney Studios Park, Disney cast members are beginning to remove historic signage featuring the theme park’s original name. On Sunday, X (formerly known as Twitter) user @PixiedustDLP shared two photos showing that the large “Walt Disney Studios” sign had been removed from the archway at the entrance to the second European Disney park:

As with any decades-old signage, the letters left a dark mark on the light-colored archway. A new “Disney Adventure World” sign will likely replace the now-removed display.

Disney Adventure World is set to debut at Disneyland Paris Resort in 2026, coinciding with the grand opening of the World of Frozen. It’s unclear when The Lion King attraction and area will be completed. Guests should expect to encounter some construction walls, blocked walkways, and other disruptions during their next visit to Walt Disney Studios Park.
