According to local reports, a child was rushed to the hospital after suffering an injury while riding The Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast at Tokyo Disneyland in Japan. The child was reportedly strangled after a safety belt wrapped around his neck during the ride.
The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. on October 21. The Chiba Prefectural Fire Department was alerted that a two-year-old boy had been hurt while on board the popular dark ride.
According to Oriental Land Company (OLC), which owns and maintains the Tokyo Disney Resort, the child boarded the ride vehicle and sat on his guardian’s lap. This meant the seat belt eventually moved from the waist to his neck.
Various posts were shared on social media platforms like Instagram and X. One video allegedly shows the moments before and after the incident. Shouting can be heard from multiple passengers on the ride as they spin around one of the attraction’s show scenes.

Park employees eventually noticed the situation and activated the ride’s emergency stop procedure. The child was then escorted to a hospital.
The Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast opened at Tokyo Disneyland in 2020 and has become one of the resort’s most popular attractions. The ride operates similarly to newer attractions at the Disney parks, like Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, moving guests along with a trackless ride system.
Below is the official description of the ride:
Guests board magical cups that “dance” in rhythm to the well-known music from Beauty and the Beast, as they take Guests through scenes depicting the story of the animated film
It’s unclear what kind of injuries the child suffered. OLC stated that more details regarding the incident would be shared internally in order to help prevent something like this from happening in the future.
