A classic Walt Disney World location has received a facelift.

Changes are happening all around Walt Disney World. From Magic Kingdom’s Frontierland to Animal Kingdom’s DinoLand U.S.A., guests can expect classic areas and locations to look totally different in the coming years.
Work is already underway on Magic Kingdom’s newest expansion, Piston Peak, a Cars-inspired western hub full of fun and adventure. The headlining attraction of Piston Peak will be a new outdoor racing ride similar to Radiator Springs at Disneyland.
Work is also underway on Monstropolis, a new land coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Mike and Sully are taking over the land formerly occupied by the Muppets. Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy aren’t officially being evicted from the park, though, as they will take up residence inside Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster.
However, one change may have slipped under guests’ radar, one that involves a crucial part of Disney World’s infrastructure.

Back in August, Disney began renovating the Transportation and Ticket Center booths. Over the last few months, guests have seen parts of the center covered with construction walls and other equipment.
The classic green railings that have formed the area’s queue for decades have now been removed. In their place are simple plastic tether guard rails. Simplicity is an excellent word for this refurbishment, as the iconic red floor has also been removed and replaced with a simple gray one.
This aligns with Disney’s efforts around the resort to both modernize and simplify things.
The Ticket & Transportation Center is the hub that connects resort hotels to Magic Kingdom and EPCOT. While visitors can park their personal vehicles at EPCOT, they cannot do so at Magic Kingdom and will need to transfer using the TTC.
Earlier this year, the TTC’s gift shop, Mickey’s Gift Station, seemingly officially closed.
The store had sat empty and abandoned for several years, after closing before the COVID-19 shutdowns. One small sign had remained, simply serving as a reminder of what once was. Guests had theorized Disney may have planned on reopening the store at some point, though this new update leads us to believe Mickey’s Gift Station is likely gone for good.
