Last weekend, a Disneyland Resort guest shared her experience dealing with an invasive Secret Service search because she stayed at the same Disney Resort hotel as Vice President JD Vance and his family.

The incident occurred amid an onslaught of criticism toward Disneyland Resort for allowing Vance, second in command to U.S. President Donald Trump, onto its property. The Vice President has vocally criticized immigrants and the LGBTQIA+ community, sporting ideals that seem the polar opposite of the inclusive, welcoming environment at The Happiest Place on Earth.

As Vance’s family shut down rides like Pirates of the Caribbean and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, hundreds gathered outside Disneyland Resort to boycott his presence there. Several Disney Park guests shouted at the Vice President as he walked through the Disney parks, surrounded by security.

But Vance’s impact extended beyond Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. The Vice President’s family reportedly stayed at Disney’s Grand Californian Resort & Spa, bringing their Secret Service detail with them. On Saturday, TikTok user @aliahtamez shared her experience undergoing an invasive search when her family arrived at the Deluxe Disney Resort hotel:

“I just got searched by Secret Service at Disneyland,” the Disney Resort hotel guest began. “…Right now, I’m staying at the Grand and, apparently, JD Vance is, too.”

The searches began the moment guests arrived at Disney’s Grand Californian Resort & Spa.

“They were searching all of our cars when we came in,” the TikToker continued. “We had to open our trunks and everything. [They] searched all of our bags, not manually, but through a security scanner, which was crazy.”

She said that in addition to the Secret Service, Disneyland Resort appeared to schedule more leadership cast members during JD Vance’s stay.

“It’s pretty crazy,” the guest said. “There’s been more managers than I’ve ever seen in my life at Disneyland.”

Many commenters said it wasn’t fair for paying Disneyland Resort guests to undergo these searches unannounced.

“I would legit cancel my vacation!” @missjazzyru wrote. “Allll that money to have to deal with that? Hell to the no!”

“I would’ve asked for my money back,” said @osea_jeannette. “Not what I wanna experience during my magical stay.”

Other Disney Parks fans used the TikToker’s comment section to lament the Vice President’s recent vacation.

“We’re paying taxes for the secret service to do an extensive search on each and every car and person that enters the park just so a vice President can have a vacation?” @needafeeder123 asked.

“I just left my Google review for Disneyland,” @ebrod26 replied. “I suggest we all do.”
