For the second time in a matter of days, Princess Tiana’s animatronic on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure has “died.” According to reports, the advanced audio-animatronic, which normally sings and moves alongside other characters, stood eerily still, leaving fans joking that Tiana was “having her share of trials and tribulations.” Some guests have said the Bayou Country attraction is in a “bad state” just weeks after its grand opening on November 15, 2024.

On Sunday, Inside the Magic reported a longstanding issue with the final Princess Tiana animatronic on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Disneyland Park guests alleged that the Disney Princess stood motionless for days, not moving or singing alongside her fellow characters.

This year, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure replaced Splash Mountain at Disneyland Park and Magic Kingdom Park. Walt Disney World Resort’s rethemed ride opened in June and faced ongoing technical issues, with multiple Annual Passholder and Disney cast member previews canceled when the Frontierland attraction broke down hours before the Disney park closed.

The new attraction follows Princess Tiana (Anika Noni Rose), Prince Naveen (Bruno Campos), Louis (Michael-Leon Wooley), and Mama Odie (Jenifer Lewis) as they search for musicians for a celebration of New Orleans. It features some of the most advanced audio-animatronics in the United States Disney parks.

On Wednesday, Redditor u/Loving_Succy shared a photo of one of these animatronics, Princess Tiana, not moving her mouth as programmed. Unlike this weekend’s breakdown, the Disney Princess animatronic appeared to be moving but singing “with her mouth shut”:

“Anyone else see Tiana frozen today?” the Disney Park guest asked. “Singing without opening her mouth.”

Other Disney Parks guests confirmed that the issue had been ongoing since at least Tuesday evening.

“She was like this last night when we went on,” u/rr2sweet wrote on Wednesday.

Many Disney Parks fans felt the issue was evidence of ongoing maintenance cuts throughout Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort.

“Probably needs the same parts as Jack at the end of Pirates of the Caribbean, whose mouth hasn’t moved in years,” said u/Taco_Cat_Cat_Taco.

“I went on the WDW Tiana’s a month after it opened and multiple animatronics were broken (including that one),” u/DaddyzLuv commented. “When I rode the Disneyland ride on its 2nd day I was very happy to see that everything was working. I had assumed they worked out all the bugs from what they learned at WDW. I guess I was wrong.”
