A new update from Disneyland Resort has revealed something of a “skeleton” at the new security entrance to the Happiest Place on Earth. Here’s what to know before your next visit to Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure Park, or the Downtown Disney District.

In mid-August 2026, Disneyland Resort began to demolish four ticket booths in the Esplanade between Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. The demolition will make way for a pedestrian bridge connecting to a new parking structure with 6,000 spaces, over 300 electric-vehicle charging stations, a security office, and a dedicated pickup/drop-off area for shuttles and rideshares.

As part of that project, Disneyland Resort is constructing a new security screening checkpoint between Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. Presumably, the new structure will support increased foot traffic from the pedestrian bridge.

On October 20, X (formerly known as Twitter) user @laughingplace visited Disneyland Resort and spotted some significant progress on the new security checkpoint. In several photos the user posted, the “skeleton” of the first half of the screening area appears nearly complete:

The skeleton for the first half of the new #Disneyland security checkpoint looks to be close to completion.

The “skeleton” mostly refers to the wooden framing of the shade structure above the screening area, which protects security cast members and guests from sun and rain as they enter the Southern California Disney destination.

Disneyland Resort has not said when it expects the new security checkpoint to open. For now, guests must use other screening areas to enter Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure Park, and the Downtown Disney District.
