The James Bond franchise has officially entered a new era, which started earlier this year with the arrival of IO Interactive’s 007 First Light (2026). The game stars Patrick Gibson (Dexter: Original Sin) as a younger Bond who must earn his place as the legendary spy also known as 007.
But the most highly anticipated project is Amazon MGM Studios’ untitled reboot (commonly referred to as James Bond 26), which is being directed by Denis Villeneuve (the Dune films), written by Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders), and produced by Amy Pascal (Spider-Man: Brand New Day) and David Heyman (the Harry Potter films). That film, however, has yet to cast Bond.

James Bond Gets Exciting New Project
The James Bond franchise is also continuing to expand in other media, namely in literature, through titles such as King Zero (2026) and James Bond and the Secret Agent Academy (2027).
Then there’s Young Bond: SilverFin, a new audio drama production based on Charlie Higson’s 2005 novel of the same name. That project is scheduled to arrive in October.
007 is also set to dominate the world of comics. Firstly, Titan Comics is set to release Ian Fleming’s James Bond Signature Comic Strip Collection Vol. 1, a new hardcover collecting the original seven 007 newspaper comic-strip adventures, on February 23, 2027. Now, in even bigger news, IDW has announced a new Bond series titled Sunbreaker from writer Grant Morrison.

“We’re pleased to announce a new comic book publishing partnership with IDW publishing, that gives a licence to write 007 to the innovative, influential, and award-winning writer Grant Morrison,” Ian Fleming Publications said in an official statement.
“I’ve been a James Bond fan for as long as I can remember and this opportunity to put my own stamp on a British character as iconic as King Arthur, Robin Hood or Sherlock Holmes, was too good to miss,” said Morrison, who’s known for All-Star Superman and his multi-year Batman run.
“Our opening 6-part adventure, Sunbreaker, attempts to create a definitive Bond story featuring everything fans love about the character and his world, while adding a whole lot more,” he continued. “Expect to see James Bond in a few unfamiliar situations, facing unfamiliar foes, in a world very like our own as reflected in a deadly funhouse mirror – a world of intrigue, violence, double cross and deception. A world through which James Bond glides like a killer shark among minnows. Charismatic, ruthless, unstoppable. With new cars, new gadgets, and a terrifying new ultimate villain ripped straight from the headlines, get ready to be shaken and stirred, as James Bond faces the greatest challenge of his life in Sunbreaker!”
There’s no release date for IDW’s James Bond series.
