The recently opened Magic of Disney Animation has brought a different type of experience to Hollywood Studios, including Olaf Draws!.
However, guests cannot necessarily draw with Olaf whenever they want.
Disney is reportedly using a virtual queue for the experience, adding another planning requirement for visitors. Families interested in drawing with Olaf need to understand the system rather than simply arriving and entering a traditional standby line.
Virtual queues can help Disney manage demand, but they also create another potential barrier.
Guests could spend thousands of dollars on a Disney World vacation, enter Hollywood Studios, and still discover that access to a particular experience depends on availability through a separate system.
That becomes especially important for visitors who do little advance research. Disney vacations increasingly reward guests who understand the rules before arriving, and Draw with Olaf adds another example.
Yet that restriction affects only one experience. Another change has taken a much larger piece of Hollywood Studios away from guests.
A Much Bigger Piece of the Park Is Gone
Construction continues to reshape Hollywood Studios as Disney prepares Monstropolis, its upcoming Monsters, Inc.-themed land.
The project required Disney to close an entire section of the park, removing experiences and physical spaces that guests could previously access with regular admission.
That matters at a park already known for having fewer attractions than some Walt Disney World counterparts.
Disney is building something significant for the future, and Monstropolis will eventually give Hollywood Studios another major destination. For 2026 visitors, though, that future project comes with a present-day tradeoff.
Guests are paying current Disney ticket prices while navigating a park with a substantial portion of the area unavailable.
Construction also affects how people move around Hollywood Studios. With less usable space, crowds have fewer places to spread out, potentially putting more pressure on attractions and areas that remain open.
And later in 2026, another access restriction will be in effect after dark.
A Park Ticket Won’t Cover Every Night
Disney Jollywood Nights returns to Hollywood Studios during the holiday season as a separately ticketed event.
Guests who want the full Jollywood Nights experience must purchase an event ticket in addition to whatever they have already spent on their Walt Disney World vacation.
For visitors traveling during the Christmas season, planning can be complicated.
A family might want to experience Hollywood Studios during regular hours while also enjoying its special nighttime entertainment. But on Jollywood Nights dates, access to the exclusive event requires another purchase.
Separately ticketed Disney events are nothing new. Still, Jollywood Nights contributes to a larger reality facing Hollywood Studios visitors in 2026: some experiences come with conditions beyond standard park admission.
Those conditions become harder to ignore when guests consider what they are already paying.
The Restrictions Don’t Exist in a Vacuum
Hollywood Studios can be expensive even before guests add special events or other extras.

For families trying to visit several major attractions in one day, Lightning Lane can feel less like a luxury and more like an important planning tool, especially when standby waits consume a large portion of a park day.
Guests pay to enter Hollywood Studios, potentially pay again for Lightning Lane, navigate virtual queue requirements, lose access to a construction area, and may need another ticket for Jollywood Nights.
Each expense or restriction has its own explanation. Together, they can dramatically change how a 2026 Hollywood Studios vacation feels.
What Does This Mean for 2026 Trips?
None of this means families should avoid Hollywood Studios.
The park still has major attractions, entertainment, restaurants, characters, and experiences. Disney is also investing heavily in its future, with Monstropolis eventually expanding the range of experiences visitors can enjoy.
But guests traveling in 2026 are visiting during an awkward middle period.
The future version of Hollywood Studios isn’t ready yet, while parts of the current park already come with restrictions, additional systems, or separate costs.
That makes preparation more important than ever.
Families who understand the virtual queue process, construction closures, Jollywood Nights schedule, attraction waits, and Lightning Lane options can plan around these limitations.
Those who arrive expecting their park ticket to unlock everything may face a much different reality.
For 2026 visitors, the question may no longer be simply what they want to experience at Hollywood Studios.
It may be how much planning, waiting, and additional spending they are willing to accept to experience it.
