Dolly Parton’s presence has always been woven into the heart of Dollywood, and the theme park is now preparing to ensure future generations continue to feel that connection.

Following Parton’s heartbreaking passing on August 25, 2026, at age 80, Dollywood has announced three major additions to celebrate the woman who helped turn the Tennessee destination into what it is today.

In addition to the existing memorial, Dollywood is creating several permanent or longer-term tribute experiences. Each addition will represent a different part of Dolly’s life, from her faith and Smoky Mountain roots to her love for children and her remarkable entertainment career.

Some of the additions will arrive in 2027, meaning Dollywood’s tribute to its beloved founder is only beginning.

Dolly Parton’s Loss Is Still Being Felt Around the World

Few entertainers built the kind of connection with people that Dolly Parton managed throughout her life.

Fans knew her for her music and unmistakable personality, but her influence stretched far beyond the entertainment industry. Dolly became known for her generosity, kindness, educational efforts, and her ability to make people feel as if they personally knew her.

That made the news of her death especially difficult.

It was recently revealed that Dolly privately battled cancer before passing away in late August. The news devastated family members, friends, fans, and countless people who had followed her career for decades.

Dollywood also lost much more than a famous name attached to its entrance.

Dolly helped shape the park’s identity. Her childhood in the Smoky Mountains, her beliefs, her family history, and her dreams influenced experiences throughout the property.

With that history in mind, Dollywood is preparing three additions to allow guests to celebrate different aspects of her legacy.

A Peaceful Dollywood Landmark Will Become a Place of Reflection

One of the most emotional changes will take place at the Robert F. Thomas Chapel.

Dollywood plans to significantly revitalize the chapel area as part of its larger effort to honor Parton over the coming months.

Guests approaching the chapel will eventually find a cascading mountainside waterfall directly outside its front steps. The waterfall will create a peaceful place where visitors can stop, reflect, and appreciate the Smoky Mountain surroundings that meant so much to Dolly.

Dollywood will also create a reflection area between the chapel and the waterfall. A sculpted guitar will become the centerpiece of the space, connecting the quiet setting with the musical career that changed Dolly’s life.

The transformation will continue inside.

Dollywood plans to replace the chapel’s plain windows with custom stained-glass artwork inspired by Ecclesiastes 3:1, a Bible verse that held special meaning for Dolly.

The verse speaks of a season and a time for everything. Appropriately, the new windows will show the changing seasons of the Smoky Mountains.

While the chapel tribute will focus heavily on faith and reflection, another new addition will carry Dolly’s message directly to younger generations.

The Dream Maker Will Carry Dolly’s Message to Children

Wildwood Grove will welcome a new interactive character, the Dream Maker, in 2027.

The character will travel with the “Dream Wagon” and invite children to share their personal dreams. Young guests will also hear stories inspired by Dolly and receive encouragement to believe in themselves, treat others with kindness, and help lift up the people around them.

The concept connects directly to one of Dolly’s most important causes: children’s literacy.

Her Imagination Library became a major part of her legacy, using books to encourage children to learn, imagine, and dream about what their futures could become.

The Dream Maker will bring those same ideas into Dollywood in a personal and interactive way.

Guests will have another opportunity to participate throughout Wildwood Grove as well. Dollywood plans to install special message stations where visitors can leave notes explaining how Dolly inspired them.

That gives families a way to contribute their own memories rather than simply walk through a traditional memorial.

And while the Dream Maker celebrates Dolly’s hopes for the next generation, another addition will focus on the extraordinary life she already lived.

The Dolly Parton Experience Is Getting a Fitting New Gateway

Dollywood will also create a new entrance for The Dolly Parton Experience.

The immersive gateway will introduce guests to the area dedicated to Dolly’s career, personal stories, memorabilia, and major moments from her life.

Instead of visitors simply entering the existing experience, the redesigned entrance will create a more defined transition into the space, celebrating Dolly.

Park leadership announced the project in September 2026 as another piece of Dollywood’s larger effort to preserve her story.

The Dolly Parton Experience already gives visitors a closer look at the person behind the worldwide celebrity. A more elaborate entrance will now help establish the area as an even more prominent piece of Dollywood following her passing.

Together, these three projects show how the park plans to keep Dolly connected to the place she helped build.

Dollywood Is Making Sure Dolly’s Story Continues

There may never be a single attraction, memorial, or display capable of capturing everything Dolly Parton meant to Dollywood and its guests.

These additions aren’t trying to do that.

Instead, Dollywood is honoring several different pieces of her life.

The Robert F. Thomas Chapel will represent her faith and Smoky Mountain roots. The Dream Maker will carry forward her passion for children, literacy, kindness, and dreaming big. The new entrance to The Dolly Parton Experience will give her remarkable career and personal story an even stronger presence inside the park.

Dolly Parton may no longer be able to walk through Dollywood herself, but the park is making sure her influence remains around nearly every corner.

As these projects begin arriving over the coming months and into 2027, guests will have three beautiful new ways to remember her.
