It’s September 9, and that means that one Walt Disney World Resort theme park has closed its gates for its scheduled seasonal refurbishment: Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park. The park operated alongside Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park for the summer, when demand was highest, but is closing up shop as the fall rolls in, and fewer Central Florida Disney Park guests are looking for a splash.
Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Closure

According to the Walt Disney World Resort website, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park is now closed for its scheduled seasonal refurbishment. The final day to visit was Tuesday, September 8.
Walt Disney World Resort has not announced a reopening date for Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, and encourages guests to visit Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park in the meantime. However, if the Central Florida Disney vacation destination follows its schedule over the last several years, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park will reopen in the spring of 2027, when Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park closes for its seasonal refurbishment.

This year, both Walt Disney World Resort water parks operated simultaneously as part of the Cool KIDS’ SUMMER promotion, which ran from May 26 through September 8. As part of the summer event, Disney Resort hotel guests received complimentary admission to either water park on their check-in day.
In 2025, Walt Disney World Resort offered the free water park admission-on-arrival-day perk for Disney Resort hotel guests year-round, simply limiting availability to whichever water park was open at the time. However, in 2026, Disney changed its policy, and the water park admission was only offered during the Cool KIDS’ SUMMER promotion.

Guests who check into a Disney Resort hotel on September 9 and beyond will not receive same-day free admission to Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park. It’s unclear if Walt Disney World Resort will bring the promotion back in 2027.
