Latest Refurbishment at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
On September 10, WDWNT reported that Walt Disney World Resort had installed several rolling planters and tarps on a walkway in front of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. The outlet shared a photo of the blocked-off area on social media:
Nearby signs direct guests to “please utilize [an] alternate walkway” and to the bus stop for transportation to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, Disney Springs, and Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park. The construction does not impact the upstairs walkway to the Monorail for transportation to Magic Kingdom Park and EPCOT.
WDWNT also spotted two Disney cast members working on the iconic white railings bordering the paved walkway and the nearby landscaping. Walt Disney World Resort appears to simply be refurbishing these railings, and they are unlikely to make any visible changes beyond a paint and/or structural refresh.
Walt Disney World Resort has not publicly acknowledged this specific construction project, but it comes on the heels of an onslaught of construction at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.
Ongoing Construction at the Deluxe Disney Resort Hotel
The reimagined lobby and first-of-its-kind birdcage-shaped lobby bar, The Perch, debuted in late 2025. The Grand Floridian Café is currently closed for refurbishment through November 2. General refurbishments around Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, including the porte cochere, are expected to continue through 2027.
Walt Disney World Resort’s website warns guests that they “may see or hear work during daytime hours and may need to take alternative routes.” The iconic life-sized gingerbread house in the lobby of the Deluxe Disney Resort hotel will not return for the 2026 holiday season to “help keep the lobby flowing smoothly” for overnight guests.
