A restaurant inspired by an original character from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ The Jungle Book (1967) has closed at Disneyland Park. Here’s what to know before your next Disney Parks vacation.
Disneyland Closes Restaurant Inspired by The Jungle Book (1967)

This month, Disneyland Paris Resort confirmed the closure of Colonel Hathi’s, a Quick-Service dining location in Adventureland at Disneyland Park. The affordable indoor-outdoor restaurant is inspired by the iconic elephant character, Hathi, from both Walt Disney Animation Studios’ The Jungle Book and Rudyard Kipling’s original Mowgli stories in “The Jungle Book,” published in 1894.

On September 10, X (formerly known as Twitter) user @DLPReport shared three photos of the Adventureland restaurant surrounded by wooden construction walls. A large brown door allows Disney cast members access to the construction zone.
🔧 Colonel Hathi’s is now closed for refurbishment until October 15. There’s a lot to fix here, especially outside, and maybe we’re getting some ordering kiosks.

A sign on the construction walls reads, in both French and English:
“This area is being refurbished for your future enjoyment.”

Disneyland Paris Resort hasn’t shared an exact plan for Colonel Hathi’s, but European Disney Parks fans have their own thoughts about what the restaurant needs to improve. Another X user, @Orbitron92, shared photos of a once-functional waterfall at the location in 1992 and today:

Colonel Hathi’s serves a mix of Indian cuisine staples like Butter Chicken and Lentil dahl alongside Mickey Mouse-shaped pizzas and pastas. It’s unclear whether the Quick-Service dining location will offer an updated menu when it reopens on October 15, 2026.
