Disneyland is preparing to temporarily relocate the shuttle drop-off area used by guests coming from the Toy Story Parking Area. The adjustment is tied to the much larger construction project underway around the resort’s eastern entrance and Esplanade.
The good news is that guests won’t have to completely rethink their arrival plans. Disney is keeping the shuttle drop-off on the eastern side of the resort. However, buses will soon unload passengers at a slightly different location.
It’s another sign of how Disneyland’s massive transportation project is beginning to affect the everyday guest experience.
Disneyland Moves Toy Story Shuttle Drop-Off
Disneyland has updated its closures and construction information with a new notice regarding the Toy Story Lot shuttle.
According to the update, the shuttle drop-off will remain in the East Esplanade area but will shift slightly north, putting guests closer to Harbor Boulevard.
That may sound like a relatively minor change, but it affects an important arrival route for guests who park south of Disneyland Resort.
The Toy Story Parking Area gives visitors another option beyond the larger parking structures on the western side of the resort. Rather than walking the entire distance to Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure, guests can board a shuttle that transports them to the Esplanade.
Currently, those buses drop passengers near the eastern end of the Esplanade, the large pedestrian area separating Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure.
That process isn’t disappearing. Instead, Disneyland is essentially moving one piece of it out of the way as construction progresses.
The Change Won’t Happen Immediately
Guests shouldn’t necessarily expect to arrive tomorrow and find their shuttle unloading somewhere completely different.
Construction first needs to take place on the temporary drop-off area.
Once that location is ready, Toy Story Lot buses will begin dropping passengers off there. Disneyland can then close the existing shuttle drop-off and turn that space over to the larger Esplanade construction project.
For guests, the biggest takeaway is fairly simple: the Toy Story Lot remains usable, and shuttle transportation to Disneyland Resort is continuing.
The difference will be where those buses leave passengers once they reach the resort.
Disneyland hasn’t provided an exact date in the supplied update for when buses will begin using the temporary location. That means visitors arriving over the coming weeks should pay attention to signs and Cast Member directions rather than automatically heading toward the exact same shuttle area they may remember from previous trips.
A Much Bigger Disneyland Project Is Driving the Change
This isn’t simply Disneyland rearranging its shuttle operation for convenience.
The temporary move is necessary because Disney is moving ahead with a major transportation overhaul on the eastern side of Disneyland Resort.
The existing shuttle drop-off eventually needs to close so construction can continue on a new pedestrian bridge connected to a future transportation hub.
That project is much larger than the temporary shuttle change guests will see in the short term.
The new transportation hub will take over the Manchester Cast Member parking lot. Plans call for a parking structure containing approximately 6,000 parking spaces, including 302 reported electric vehicle charging spaces.
Disney is also planning dedicated areas for shuttles and rideshare vehicles.
The transportation center will include security facilities as well as dedicated traffic access from Disney Way. Together, those additions are designed to significantly change how some visitors arrive on the eastern side of Disneyland Resort.
And work connected to the project is already visible.
Disney recently demolished additional ticket booths as part of the ongoing project, showing that the changes are moving beyond concepts and planning and into physical alterations around the resort.
Disneyland’s Entrance Experience Is Entering a Transition Period
For regular Disneyland visitors, the September update is important because transportation changes can affect the beginning and end of a park day.
Many guests build a routine around Disneyland.
They know where they park, where they board the shuttle, where the bus drops them off, and which direction they need to walk once they arrive. Even a relatively small relocation can temporarily disrupt that routine.
Disney’s decision to keep the Toy Story shuttle drop-off in the East Esplanade should make the transition easier.
Guests aren’t being transported to an entirely different side of the resort. Instead, the temporary location will move slightly north and closer to Harbor Boulevard.
Still, visitors should expect the eastern arrival area to continue changing as Disney advances the larger construction project.
Temporary walkways, altered traffic patterns, construction walls, relocated operations, and other adjustments could become a more familiar part of visiting this side of Disneyland Resort while work continues.
Why This Matters for Toy Story Lot Guests
The biggest concern whenever Disney announces a transportation change is whether it makes getting into the parks significantly more complicated.
Based on the September update, this particular change appears designed to keep the existing system operating while giving construction crews access to the current drop-off area.
Guests can still park at the Toy Story Parking Area.
They can still use shuttle transportation.
And those buses will still take them to the eastern side of Disneyland Resort.
The actual change comes at the end of that trip, when guests step off the bus slightly farther north than they did before.
That distinction matters because Disneyland could have faced a much more disruptive situation if the existing shuttle area needed to close before an alternative was available.
Instead, the temporary location is being prepared first. Once it is complete, shuttle operations can move and construction can take over the existing space.
It’s essentially a phased transition rather than an abrupt shutdown.
More Changes Could Be Noticeable During Future Visits
This September 2026 update also offers a preview of what Disneyland guests may experience as the transportation project moves forward.
Major infrastructure projects often create smaller operational changes long before guests see the finished product.
The Toy Story shuttle relocation is one of those changes.
On its own, moving a bus drop-off slightly north isn’t a dramatic overhaul. But the reason behind the move is much more significant.
Disney needs the current area for construction associated with a pedestrian bridge and a transportation hub containing thousands of parking spaces, EV charging locations, rideshare and shuttle areas, security infrastructure, and new vehicle access.
That means the eastern side of Disneyland Resort is gradually moving toward a substantially different setup.
Guests visiting during construction will experience that transformation piece by piece.
For now, one of those pieces involves the Toy Story Lot.
What Disneyland Guests Should Know Before Arriving
Anyone planning to use the Toy Story Parking Area should continue following Disneyland’s posted transportation instructions when arriving.
There is no indication that Toy Story shuttle service itself is ending. Instead, Disneyland is relocating where those shuttles drop passengers off near the parks.
Once the temporary location opens, buses will unload guests slightly north of the current East Esplanade drop-off and closer to Harbor Boulevard. The existing area can then close so work on the broader transportation project can continue.
It may add a small adjustment to a familiar Disneyland routine, particularly for repeat visitors accustomed to navigating the resort almost automatically.
But this change is ultimately much bigger than a relocated shuttle stop.
Disneyland is reshaping part of the infrastructure guests use to enter the resort, and the September 2026 update shows that the project is reaching a point where visitors will increasingly encounter those changes firsthand.
For Toy Story Lot guests, that starts with a new place to step off the bus.
