Disney has shifted the schedule for two of EPCOT’s biggest nighttime offerings during the 2026 EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays. Both Candlelight Processional and Luminous The Symphony of Us will begin earlier than guests have become accustomed to seeing them.
The changes themselves may seem small on paper. Candlelight Processional performances are moving up by 15 minutes, and Luminous is also starting 15 minutes earlier. However, the reason behind those changes is more significant: EPCOT itself is scheduled to close earlier during this year’s festival.
For guests who plan their EPCOT evenings around dinner reservations, Candlelight Processional, holiday kitchens, and fireworks, that means the final few hours of the day could look noticeably different in 2026.
EPCOT Is Closing Earlier During Festival of the Holidays
The 2026 EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays is scheduled to run from November 27 through December 30.
During the festival, EPCOT is currently scheduled to close at 9:00 p.m. That represents a change from previous Festival of the Holidays seasons, when the park remained open until 9:30 p.m.
Thirty minutes may not sound like much, especially during a full day at Walt Disney World. But that half hour can make a difference at EPCOT.
Unlike a park where guests may spend the final part of the night rushing between rides, EPCOT’s holiday evenings revolve heavily around entertainment, food, drinks, shopping, and simply spending time around World Showcase.
Festival of the Holidays also adds even more to that schedule.
Guests may want to visit the Holiday Kitchens, experience holiday storytellers throughout World Showcase, see Candlelight Processional, have dinner, shop for festival merchandise, and still find a viewing location for Luminous.
Now, Disney is fitting that nighttime experience into a slightly shorter operating day.
That change is also pushing EPCOT’s two major nighttime shows forward.
Candlelight Processional Is Moving Up
One of EPCOT’s most popular holiday traditions will have a new schedule in 2026.
Candlelight Processional typically takes place three times each evening at the America Gardens Theatre. The show combines a celebrity narrator, orchestra, choir, and the telling of the Christmas story.
In previous years, guests could choose between performances at 5:00 p.m., 6:45 p.m., and 8:15 p.m.
Those times are changing this year.
For 2026, Candlelight Processional is scheduled for:
- 4:45 p.m.
- 6:30 p.m.
- 8:00 p.m.
That puts every performance 15 minutes earlier than the previous schedule.
Again, 15 minutes does not seem like a dramatic change. For guests building an entire evening around Candlelight Processional, though, it is worth knowing before arriving.
Someone accustomed to aiming for the 5:00 p.m. performance will now need to be ready earlier. The same applies to guests planning dinner around the second performance or hoping to make the final show before fireworks.
The biggest change could be felt by guests attending that last performance.
Instead of beginning at 8:15 p.m., the final Candlelight Processional will start at 8:00 p.m. The schedule allows that performance to wrap up around EPCOT’s new 9:00 p.m. closing time.
Then comes Luminous.
Luminous The Symphony of Us Will Start Earlier Too
EPCOT’s nighttime spectacular is also being pushed forward.
Luminous The Symphony of Us previously began at 9:30 p.m. during Festival of the Holidays. In 2026, guests can expect the show to begin at 9:15 p.m.
Interestingly, Luminous will still begin after EPCOT officially closes.
The park is scheduled to close at 9:00 p.m., followed by Luminous at 9:15 p.m.
That creates a fairly tight nighttime schedule.
Guests attending the 8:00 p.m. Candlelight Processional will finish around the time EPCOT officially closes. Luminous then follows approximately 15 minutes later.
For those guests, the evening could essentially flow directly from one major show into the next.
However, it also means guests should think carefully about where they want to watch Luminous if they are attending the final Candlelight Processional.
America Gardens Theatre sits along World Showcase Lagoon, but guests who have a favorite fireworks viewing location elsewhere around the lagoon may have limited time to move there after Candlelight Processional ends.
Instead of having a large gap between the two experiences, the final portion of the evening becomes much more compressed.
Guests May Want to Rethink Their EPCOT Evening
These schedule changes could matter most for guests who like to pack several Festival of the Holidays experiences into one night.
Imagine planning an evening around a table-service dinner, Candlelight Processional, a few Holiday Kitchens, and Luminous. Moving everything slightly earlier while also cutting 30 minutes from the park’s operating hours leaves less room for delays.
A long restaurant meal could suddenly interfere with a Candlelight Processional performance. Waiting longer than expected at a Holiday Kitchen could eat into the time available before the next show.
Guests arriving at EPCOT later in the day should also pay attention.
Festival of the Holidays can be particularly appealing in the evening. Decorations become more noticeable after dark, World Showcase takes on a different atmosphere, and Candlelight Processional becomes one of the park’s biggest draws.
Anyone accustomed to EPCOT remaining open until 9:30 p.m. during the festival should not assume the same schedule applies in 2026.
That could be particularly important when making dining reservations.
A later dinner may now overlap with the final Candlelight Processional or leave guests rushing to get outside before Luminous begins.
Guests attending Candlelight Processional Dining Packages may also want to double-check their performance time rather than relying on schedules they remember from previous trips.
The Final Candlelight Show Creates an Interesting Situation
Of all the changes, the 8:00 p.m. Candlelight Processional may require the most planning.
That performance begins one hour before EPCOT officially closes. By the time it ends, regular park operations will essentially be wrapping up for the night.
Luminous begins shortly afterward at 9:15 p.m.
That makes the final Candlelight Processional and Luminous almost feel like one extended closing sequence for guests who experience both.
There is certainly an upside to that.
Someone primarily interested in nighttime entertainment could attend Candlelight Processional and then finish the evening with Luminous without needing to fill a long gap between shows.
On the other hand, guests hoping to squeeze in one final attraction, snack stop, or shopping trip between the two may find that difficult.
It also makes the first two Candlelight Processional performances more attractive for anyone wanting a less structured evening afterward.
Seeing the 4:45 p.m. performance leaves several hours for dinner, attractions, Holiday Kitchens, and World Showcase before Luminous. Even the 6:30 p.m. performance gives guests considerably more breathing room.
The 8:00 p.m. performance effectively commits the final portion of the night to entertainment.
A Small Change That Could Have a Big Impact on Holiday Plans
Disney is not removing either of these popular EPCOT offerings. Candlelight Processional will continue with three performances each night, while Luminous remains the park’s nighttime spectacular.
What is changing is the clock.
EPCOT’s 9:00 p.m. closing time during the 2026 Festival of the Holidays is pushing the entire nighttime schedule forward. Candlelight Processional will begin at 4:45 p.m., 6:30 p.m., and 8:00 p.m., while Luminous The Symphony of Us moves to 9:15 p.m.
Guests who have visited during previous holiday seasons may barely notice the difference if they arrive without a strict plan. For families trying to fit several experiences into one evening, though, those 15- and 30-minute shifts could matter quite a bit.
The best move will be checking the schedule before heading into EPCOT and building some extra room into the evening.
Festival of the Holidays remains one of EPCOT’s busiest times for seasonal entertainment, and Candlelight Processional can become a major part of a guest’s plans. Add dinner, festival food, attractions, and Luminous to the equation, and those final few hours can disappear quickly.
This year, they will disappear a little quicker than before.
