Landman remains one of Paramount+’s biggest shows, and Season 3 is already moving forward. The problem is that the timeline has shifted enough that a 2026 return is no longer happening.
While there had been expectations that Landman could return around November 2026, the latest production update points toward a much longer wait. Season 3 is now expected to arrive sometime in mid-to-late 2027.
That means Landman will miss 2026 entirely.
‘Landman’ Season 3 Won’t Arrive in 2026
The good news here is important: Paramount has not canceled Landman itself.
The series received its Season 3 renewal after a successful second season, and Billy Bob Thornton is expected to return as Tommy Norris. Season 2 wrapped up on January 18, 2026, leaving fans waiting to see where Taylor Sheridan’s oil drama goes next.
But anyone expecting the show to continue its relatively quick turnaround is facing some disappointing news.
There is still no official premiere date for Season 3. However, the latest production information makes a 2026 release unrealistic.
James Jordan, who plays Dale, previously said in late July that production was expected to begin in roughly a month. The show has since started casting extras around Fort Worth, with casting calls seeking people for work on September 24 and September 25.
That timing is significant.
With production only getting underway this fall and work expected to continue into early 2027, there simply isn’t enough time for Landman Season 3 to make its previously expected November 2026 window.
Instead, the current expectation is a mid-to-late 2027 premiere on Paramount+.
Why Fans Could Be Waiting Until Late 2027
The shift makes more sense when looking at the production calendar.
A series like Landman doesn’t move directly from filming to Paramount+. Once production wraps, the episodes still need to move through post-production before Paramount can settle on a premiere date and begin the final promotional push.
If filming continues into early 2027, a mid-year return would represent a relatively quick turnaround. A later 2027 premiere could give the production considerably more breathing room.
For now, Paramount has not announced an exact date, so there is still room for the schedule to change.
What appears clear, though, is that 2026 is off the table.
That creates a substantially longer gap between seasons than some viewers may have anticipated following the Season 2 finale in January.

Season 3 Is Still Moving Forward
There is at least plenty of evidence that Paramount remains committed to the series.
Along with Thornton’s expected return, Season 3 is adding Michael Kelly as a new series regular. Kelly will play William Crockett, described as a major industry figure who runs the world’s largest oil management firm.
The casting activity in Fort Worth also shows that production is progressing rather than sitting in limbo.
So, this isn’t a case of Paramount pulling the plug on Landman. It’s a release delay that pushes the next chapter much farther into the future than originally expected.
Fans can also revisit the story while they wait. Both existing seasons are currently available to stream on Paramount+.
The biggest question now is exactly how long that wait will be.
