Here’s what to know if you have a Southern California Disney Park vacation planned.
Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters Refurbishment
Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters was closed from April to June for both an exterior refresh and interior ride improvements. Disney cast members told WDWNT that Disneyland Resort had replaced the computer system that operates the Tomorrowland ride and installed new phones for attraction employees to use. Crews also improved interior lighting and the Zurg audio-animatronic.
Around the same time, Disney cast members repainted several elements of the building containing Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters and its adjacent gift shop, Little Green Men Store Command. Last week, the final signs of construction disappeared from the Tomorrowland merchandise location, and most Disney Parks fans assumed that the refurbishment was complete.
That all changed this week.
Construction Begins (Again)
On Wednesday, WDWNT reported that gray scrim concealing scaffolding and blue construction walls had once again been installed on a portion of the building containing Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters. The outlet shared a photo of the Tomorrowland attraction on social media:
According to Disney cast members, Disneyland Resort is now focused on exterior painting and other renovations on the attraction facade. It’s unclear if the Tomorrowland building will look different when construction is complete.
Despite the new construction equipment, Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters continues to operate normally at Disneyland Park. The Disneyland Resort website doesn’t indicate plans to close the ride for another refurbishment.
