The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror is more concealed from Walt Disney World Resort guests than it has been over the course of the refurbishment that started earlier this summer. Here’s what to know before your next visit to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Twilight Zone Tower of Terror Refurbishment

Signs of construction first appeared on the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror in early May, when Walt Disney World Resort refurbished parts of the ride queue. After that project wrapped up, Disney installed protective scrim and scaffolding above the gift shop.
Since early July, scaffolding has been crawling up from the right side of the building around to the front and up toward the iconic Hollywood Tower Hotel sign. Walt Disney World Resort seems to be repainting the facade, as patches of brighter pink have appeared on the building and have yet to receive its typical aged, intentionally worn treatment.

Since Inside the Magic’s last update on August 10, even more scaffolding has appeared on all visible sides of the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror attraction.
Latest Construction Update

On August 20, X (formerly known as Twitter) user @laughingplace shared four photos of the current state of the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror facade. The attraction exterior is clearly more covered by scaffolding than it has been for the entire ongoing refurbishment:

The right-side elevator shaft is not blocked by scaffolding, but some construction equipment appears to obstruct the view from the windows that open for guests dropping down the left-side elevator shaft.

Despite the ongoing refurbishment, the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror continues to operate normally. Walt Disney World Resort has not announced any upcoming closures for the iconic drop ride at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
