The primary goal of this expansion is to create a single, continuous parking area that seamlessly connects the Grand Floridian’s Disney Vacation Club (DVC) building to the brand-new Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort next door. By reorienting the existing parking lots and access roads, Disney is creating a much more cohesive layout for guests traveling between the two Deluxe resorts.
One of the most exciting details hidden within the permit approval is the addition of a brand-new covered walkway. This new pathway will directly connect the DVC building to the Wedding Pavilion parking loop. It eliminates the need to navigate unprotected roadways and scattered parking spaces when walking to the pavilion.

Beginning August 10, 2026, a new section of Floridian Way will open to Walt Disney World drivers, temporarily directing traffic onto a newly constructed stretch of road between the Magic Kingdom parking lot and the Grand Floridian entrance. Drivers will soon use the completed southbound side of the roadway while crews continue building the adjacent northbound lanes.
