After weeks of announcements, teases, and speculation, the event’s haunted house lineup is essentially locked in, while new scare zones and returning entertainment promise to fill the streets with even more terror.
There are still a handful of unanswered questions before opening night, but the overwhelming majority of HHN 35 has now been revealed. Here’s a closer look at every haunted house, the latest scare zone announcements, the returning shows, and everything else guests can expect when Halloween Horror Nights returns.
What Is Halloween Horror Nights?
Halloween Horror Nights has grown into Universal Orlando’s biggest annual event, transforming Universal Studios Florida into a massive nighttime horror experience on select evenings throughout the fall.
Unlike a traditional day at the theme park, HHN completely changes the atmosphere after dark. Elaborately themed haunted houses, roaming scare actors, live entertainment, specialty food, exclusive merchandise, and immersive scare zones take over the park. Each year, Universal blends original concepts created by its creative team with haunted attractions based on popular movies, television series, and horror icons.
For HHN 35, Universal appears to be continuing that winning formula with a balanced mix of brand-new ideas and recognizable franchises.
Original Haunted Houses Lead the Lineup
Original houses have become a signature part of Halloween Horror Nights, and this year’s collection once again spans everything from post-apocalyptic nightmares to futuristic horror.
H.R. Bloodengutz Presents: A Halloween Fright-Tacular! throws guests into another outrageous broadcast from the infamous horror television host. Expect over-the-top scares, gruesome surprises, and the kind of campy horror that longtime HHN fans have come to love.
MADLANDS: Caged Cannibals takes visitors through an abandoned zoo that has become home to rival cannibal factions. The animals may be gone, but the predators are very much alive, creating a brutal survival story where humans have become the prey.
Science fiction fans get something entirely different with INVASION: Alien Abduction, which follows a terrifying extraterrestrial encounter. A remote farmhouse becomes the setting for horrifying experiments after mysterious Gray aliens arrive searching for new victims.
The future looks anything but hopeful inside Cybergoria, where machines have conquered humanity. Guests awaken thousands of years ahead in a world where technology has twisted the idea of eternal life into something far more disturbing.
One of the most anticipated original concepts is Jack & Oddfellow: Chaos & Control. The haunted house dives into the relationship between two of Halloween Horror Nights’ most recognizable original characters, exploring the clash between Jack the Clown’s unpredictable madness and Dr. Oddfellow’s calculated control. For longtime fans, this feels like one of the event’s biggest story-driven experiences yet.
Familiar Franchises Bring Major Horror Names
Alongside Universal’s original creations, HHN 35 also features several high-profile intellectual properties.
Sinners brings the acclaimed vampire story to life by transporting guests to opening night at the Smokestack Twins’ juke joint. What begins as a celebration quickly descends into chaos as bloodthirsty vampires invade, turning the setting into a haunted house of supernatural horror.
Netflix returns with Stranger Things 5, allowing guests to step back into Hawkins for the franchise’s final chapter. Demogorgons, the Mind Flayer, and Vecna all play major roles as visitors experience key moments inspired by the show’s concluding season.
Classic horror receives its due with Hellraiser, drawing inspiration from the original film trilogy. Guests venture into the terrifying world of Pinhead and the Cenobites, where unimaginable pain becomes their twisted form of pleasure.
Another modern horror franchise joins the event with Evil Dead Burn. Based on the upcoming film, the haunted house centers on a family home overtaken by demonic forces, forcing guests to dodge relentless Deadites around every corner.
Although Universal has not officially confirmed it, an Ozzy Osbourne-themed haunted house also appears to be on the way. An unexpected recorded advertisement reportedly surfaced through Pandora, seemingly revealing the experience before Universal intended. Until the resort makes a formal announcement, the news remains unofficial, but all signs point to the legendary rock icon receiving his own haunted attraction.
The Streets Are Getting More Dangerous
Haunted houses aren’t the only places guests will encounter scares.
Universal has announced Sideshow of Decay for the Hollywood area of the park. Cindy finally takes center stage after opening a supernatural portal inside a forgotten carnival junkyard, unleashing decayed horrors that refuse to stay buried.
Over on Illumination Boulevard, Infernal Carnival of Nightmares reunites Jack and Dr. Oddfellow for another twisted carnival filled with sinister performers and horrifying surprises lurking in every direction.
There’s also exciting news for longtime HHN fans. The Killer Klowns from Outer Space are officially returning to Universal Orlando’s streets. Universal has confirmed the iconic aliens are coming back, although it has not yet clarified exactly how they’ll be incorporated. Based on what has been announced so far, many fans believe they’ll headline another scare zone, but Universal hasn’t officially labeled the experience yet.
Exciting Shows Add More Than Just Scares
Halloween Horror Nights isn’t just about haunted houses. Universal has also announced two live entertainment offerings for HHN 35.
At the Fear Factor Stage, Nightmare Fuel: Blood Noir introduces an entirely new chapter in the popular stunt spectacular. The production promises daring aerial performances, elaborate choreography, and a vampire-filled city where temptation and danger go hand in hand.
Meanwhile, the lagoon show receives a fresh update with Stranger Things: Return to Hawkins. Using music, projections, and memorable moments from all five seasons of the hit series, the nighttime production celebrates the show’s biggest characters and battles in an entirely different format than the haunted house.
Opening Night Is Getting Closer
Halloween Horror Nights 35 kicks off on August 28 and runs on select nights through November 1, giving fans more than two months to experience this year’s event.
Even with nearly every major reveal now complete, a few pieces of the puzzle remain. Universal still hasn’t officially announced the rumored Ozzy Osbourne haunted house, confirmed whether Killer Klowns from Outer Space will indeed be a scare zone or another type of experience, or revealed the final scare zone rounding out this year’s lineup. Guests are also still waiting for additional announcements covering specialty food, collectible merchandise, and other event-exclusive offerings.
With almost the entire roster now in place, however, HHN 35 is shaping up to be one of Universal Orlando’s most ambitious Halloween Horror Nights events yet. Between original concepts, blockbuster horror franchises, returning icons, and new live entertainment, this year’s event already offers plenty for horror fans to count down to before the fog rolls in once again.
