This week, Walt Disney World Resort removed a feature from Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom Park that dated back to 1994. This update comes amid other refurbishment projects in the futuristic-themed land at the original Central Florida Disney park, including rock repainting.
Tomorrowland Removal at Magic Kingdom Park

On June 10, WDWNT reported that Disney cast members had removed the roof from a tower to the left of the entrance to Tomorrowland, located in the Cinderella Castle Hub at Magic Kingdom Park. This update comes after Walt Disney World Resort installed a scrim over the tower earlier this week.
This tower has been at the entrance to Tomorrowland from the Cinderella Castle Hub since 1994. Earlier this month, Walt Disney World Resort removed two other towers from Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom Park, and this tower’s demolition was practically confirmed when a scrim appeared around it earlier this week. Crews recently finished repainting the rocks that line the Cinderella Castle moat in front of the tower.

The support portions of the rocket-style tower appear rusty and weather-damaged, but remain in place. A piece of scrim covers a small section of the red-painted metal ring on the inside of the tower, visible from Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe. Walt Disney World Resort is likely to remove them as it did with the previous two Tomorrowland towers. A scrim still covers the former site of one tower near Tomorrowland Terrace.
It’s unclear whether Walt Disney World Resort has plans to add new decorative elements to replace the three demolished towers in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom Park, or if they were simply removed due to wear and tear.

Walt Disney World Resort has spent the last few years refreshing Tomorrowland at the Magic Kingdom, starting with the addition of TRON Lightcycle / Run in 2023. Walt Disney Imagineering recently updated Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, and recently announced a complete overhaul of Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress.
