Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando is one of the most anticipated events on the theme park calendar every year, and 2026 is shaping up to be a particularly strong edition. New haunted houses, returning fan-favorite icons, early access options, and a merchandise collection already generating attention are all part of this year’s lineup. But before getting into all of that, there is a policy change worth knowing about that will affect how much your HHN night actually costs if you are driving to the event.

Universal Orlando has quietly eliminated the free parking that previously came with certain Frequent Fear passes after midnight during Halloween Horror Nights. The change was flagged by Expedition Theme Park on X: “Just an fyi, there is no longer any free parking at Universal Orlando during HHN after midnight for non APs. In previous years certain Frequent Fear passes such as the Ultimate included parking. Normal parking rates apply until 2am on Halloween Horror Nights nights.”

If you are not an Annual Passholder and you are planning to drive to HHN this year, parking costs now apply for the full duration of your visit under standard rates, regardless of which ticket or pass type you hold. For guests who counted on free post-midnight parking as a built-in perk of a higher-tier Frequent Fear pass, that benefit is gone. Budget accordingly before your night out.

The change to parking is the logistical update, but the haunted house announcements are the part most HHN fans have been waiting for. Two confirmed houses are generating significant excitement heading into the season.

The first is a Sinners house. The Academy Award-winning film comes to HHN this year in a haunted house approved by writer-director Ryan Coogler, making it an official creative collaboration rather than a licensed imitation. Coogler’s comments on the partnership were specific about what the collaboration is meant to deliver. “Partnering with Halloween Horror Nights gives fans the chance to step even deeper into the world of the film — to feel the music, the atmosphere, and the tension all around them,” he said. “Watching it come to life on this scale has been really special for all of us.”

The house will take guests inside Club Juke, the central location from the film, where the atmosphere quickly turns dangerous as red-eyed vampires Remmick, Bert, and Joan emerge with what the description calls their insatiable hunger. Twins Smoke and Stack also appear, alongside the bloodthirsty vampires threatening to take them down. For anyone who saw Sinners and left wanting more time in that world, the HHN house is designed specifically to extend that experience in physical space.

The second confirmed house is Jack and Oddfellow: Chaos and Control. This one is for longtime HHN fans. Jack the Clown is one of the event’s most iconic and recognizable mascots, and Dr. Oddfellow has his own established place in HHN mythology. This house brings them together for the first time in what is being described as a showdown decades in the making, with guests walking through the origins of Jack and the universe of Dr. Oddfellow as the two pit chaos against control. It is a house built entirely for the HHN faithful.

Tickets, Access Options, and Merchandise

Universal has opened ticket sales for HHN 2026, and the access options available this year cover a range of guest preferences and budgets.

Standard single-night admission is available now, along with Express Passes for guests who want to minimize wait times in the haunted house queues. R.I.P. Tours and the Behind the Screams: Unmasking the Horror Tour are also on sale for guests who want a guided, deeper-dive experience through the event’s creative process and scare zones.

The Scream Early access option allows guests to enter the event starting at 2 p.m., ahead of the general HHN open time. For guests who want maximum time at the event and a head start on the haunted house queues before crowds fully build, this is worth considering.

Premium Scream Night returns this year for two limited-capacity dates. These nights offer a lower-crowd experience of HHN and historically sell out well in advance of the event itself. If Premium Scream Night is on your radar, booking sooner rather than later is the practical advice.

On the merchandise side, the 2026 collection featuring Jack the Clown and Dr. Oddfellow is already on sale at select locations inside Universal Studios Florida and online at shopUniversal.com. T-shirts are $35, hoodies are $60, a hockey jersey is available for $75, and sherpa blankets start at $43. For guests who want to collect HHN merchandise without the full event ticket, the items are available separately.

How This Affects a Disney Vacation

Universal Orlando and Walt Disney World sit close enough in the Orlando area that many guests build trips that include both. October is one of the most popular times of year to be in Central Florida, with Disney’s own Halloween programming running at Magic Kingdom and Universal’s HHN operating on select nights at Universal Studios Florida.

For guests splitting time between the two parks, HHN typically occupies one or two designated nights during a longer trip. The parking change at HHN is relevant to how you structure the financial side of those evenings. If your group was previously counting on late-night free parking from a Frequent Fear pass to reduce the cost of an HHN night, that calculation needs to be revised. Standard parking rates at Universal Orlando apply throughout HHN evenings for non-Annual Passholders, and those rates running to 2 a.m. can add meaningful cost to what might already be an expensive event night.

Annual Passholders are not affected by this change, which is worth knowing if anyone in your group holds one. But for the portion of guests attending HHN on single-night or Frequent Fear pass tickets without AP status, parking is now a budget line that needs to be factored in from the beginning.

For the event itself, the Sinners house is the addition most likely to draw guests who are casual HHN attendees rather than dedicated horror event fans. Ryan Coogler’s involvement as an approving creative voice is a meaningful differentiator, and the film’s cultural footprint means awareness of this house will extend well beyond the traditional HHN audience. If you are planning an Orlando trip this fall and have not previously attended HHN, Sinners is the kind of anchor that makes the event worth building a night around.
