The “it’s a small world” attraction in Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom Park was unexpectedly closed for much of the day on Saturday, June 6. Here’s what we know about the unexpected ride shutdown at Walt Disney World Resort.
“it’s a small world” Closure

June 6 started as a normal day at Magic Kingdom Park. “it’s a small world” opened alongside the rest of the original Central Florida Disney park at 9:00 a.m. with a five-minute posted wait, which rose to a modest ten minutes at around 10:00 a.m.
However, by 11:00 a.m., “it’s a small world” had shut down. The My Disney Experience app listed it as “temporarily closed,” and it remained that way until 8:00 p.m. Thankfully, the Fantasyland ride finally reopened in the late evening. It operated normally until Magic Kingdom Park closed at 11:00 p.m.

Magic Kingdom Park-Wide Attraction Issues

“it’s a small world” wasn’t the only Magic Kingdom Park attraction to experience extended downtime on June 6. At least five other Disney Park rides, including The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Pirates of the Caribbean, the Haunted Mansion, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, closed simultaneously in the early afternoon on Saturday.

Typically, park-wide issues like this one are caused by power outages or other technical issues. However, Walt Disney World Resort did not confirm any widespread problems at Magic Kingdom Park on June 6.

While part of the “it’s a small world” closure may have been related to whatever caused the other Magic Kingdom Park rides to shut down on Saturday afternoon, it remained shut down for much longer than the other attractions.
At the time this article was published on June 7, “it’s a small world” was operating normally at Magic Kingdom Park.
