June has officially arrived, and for many guests planning a summer trip to Dollywood, new rules will affect their vacation experience.

While Dollywood continues welcoming visitors to its award-winning attractions, the destination’s popular resort hotels are preparing to implement a major operational shift later this month. Beginning June 11, both Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort and Spa and Dollywood’s HeartSong Lodge & Resort will officially become cashless properties, marking a significant change for guests staying at either location.

The move follows a similar transition that already took place at Dollywood’s Splash Country water park when it opened for the 2026 season in mid-May. Now, the change is expanding further across the Dollywood Parks & Resorts portfolio.

For years, guests visiting DreamMore Resort and HeartSong Lodge have been able to pay with traditional cash at dining locations, gift shops, and other resort venues. Starting June 11, however, transactions will be limited to electronic payment methods, including credit cards, debit cards, and mobile payment services such as Apple Pay and Google Pay.

The policy represents one of the most noticeable guest-facing changes at Dollywood’s resort properties in recent years.

DreamMore Resort, which opened in 2015, remains one of the flagship lodging options for guests visiting the Tennessee destination. The resort offers more than 300 guest rooms alongside exclusive benefits such as complimentary transportation, early park access, multiple dining locations, and family-focused amenities.

HeartSong Lodge & Resort, meanwhile, is the newest addition to the Dollywood portfolio. Opening in 2023, the resort expanded Dollywood’s lodging offerings and quickly became a popular choice for guests seeking accommodations inspired by the natural beauty of the Smoky Mountains.

Despite the changes coming to both hotels, guests visiting the main Dollywood theme park will notice no immediate difference. At the time of writing, the theme park itself continues accepting cash payments, creating a distinction between the resorts and the park’s primary operations.

To help ease the transition, Dollywood has also introduced cash-to-card kiosks at affected locations. These kiosks allow visitors to convert physical cash into prepaid cards that can be used throughout the resort and elsewhere where major card payments are accepted. According to Dollywood, the service does not include additional loading fees.

The company joins a growing number of entertainment and hospitality operators embracing cashless operations. Supporters of the move often point to faster transaction times, shorter lines, improved efficiency, and reduced cash-handling responsibilities for employees.

For guests visiting busy resort dining locations during the summer season, those benefits could prove especially valuable as travel crowds continue increasing throughout June and July.

For guests with upcoming reservations at DreamMore Resort or HeartSong Lodge, June 11 is now an important date to keep in mind. Travelers planning to rely on cash during their vacation may want to prepare alternative payment methods before arriving or take advantage of the available cash-to-card conversion kiosks.

As summer gets underway in the Smoky Mountains, Dollywood’s most significant June update may not involve a new attraction, festival, or entertainment offering. Instead, it will arrive at the front desk, restaurant registers, and gift shop counters of its two resort hotels, where cash transactions will soon become a thing of the past.
