Disney parks are constantly evolving. Attractions receive updates, hotels undergo renovations, and entertainment offerings rotate throughout the year. Most of the time, those projects happen quietly in the background, with guests barely noticing the work taking place behind construction walls.

Occasionally, however, Disney announces a project so significant that it immediately grabs attention from fans planning future vacations.

That is exactly what is happening at Disneyland Paris.

One of the resort’s most popular attractions, Crush’s Coaster, will close for an extended refurbishment beginning September 7, 2026. The attraction is expected to remain unavailable until summer 2027, making it one of the longest ride closures currently scheduled at Disneyland Paris.

For many guests, the news comes as a surprise. Crush’s Coaster has become one of the defining experiences of Disney Adventure World, regularly attracting some of the longest wait times in the park and serving as a must-do attraction for visitors of all ages.

While lengthy ride closures can be disappointing, Disneyland Paris says the project is designed to ensure the attraction continues operating smoothly for years to come while improving both the guest and Cast Member experience.

The refurbishment will also mark the most significant work performed on the attraction since it first opened nearly two decades ago.

One of Disney Adventure World’s Biggest Draws

Since opening in 2007, Crush’s Coaster has developed a reputation as one of the most popular rides at Disneyland Paris.

Inspired by Pixar’s beloved animated film Finding Nemo (2003), the attraction takes guests on a spinning coaster adventure through the East Australian Current alongside Crush, the laid-back sea turtle who quickly became a fan favorite following the film’s release.

Unlike many traditional family attractions, Crush’s Coaster combines dark ride storytelling with thrilling coaster elements. Guests begin their journey immersed in scenes inspired by the underwater world of Finding Nemo before entering a fast-paced spinning coaster section that sends riders twisting through the darkness.

The unique ride system, combined with limited capacity, has helped create consistently long wait times throughout the attraction’s history.

On busy days, waits regularly stretch well beyond an hour. During holiday periods and peak vacation seasons, the attraction often becomes one of the first rides guests rush to experience after entering Disney Adventure World.

That popularity makes the upcoming closure particularly notable.

For nearly ten months, visitors will have to experience Disney Adventure World without one of its signature attractions.

The Largest Refurbishment in the Attraction’s History

According to Disneyland Paris, preparations for the project have already been underway for months.

Teams from Walt Disney Imagineering Paris, Design & Delivery, Maintenance, and the Central Workshops have been working behind the scenes to prepare for what will become the largest refurbishment Crush’s Coaster has ever received.

The project is expected to last approximately ten months and will be completed in two major phases.

The first phase focuses heavily on technical modernization. Disneyland Paris says multiple systems critical to the attraction’s operation will be completely replaced.

That work includes upgrades to control systems, sensors, communication equipment, and sections of track throughout the attraction.

While guests may never see many of these improvements directly, they are among the most important investments Disney can make in an attraction approaching its twentieth anniversary.

Modernizing ride infrastructure helps improve reliability, maintain safety standards, and support daily operations for years into the future.

The second phase will focus on extensive testing and validation procedures.

Before guests are allowed back on board, Disneyland Paris says teams will conduct a lengthy series of technical reviews and operational tests to ensure every system performs as intended.

For an attraction featuring both dark ride and coaster elements, that testing process is expected to be substantial.

The refurbishment will not be limited to technical systems.

Disneyland Paris also plans to use the closure period to refresh many of the attraction’s show elements and themed environments.

According to the resort, teams from Disneyland Paris and external partners will spend the project cleaning, repairing, and repainting decorative components throughout the attraction.

The goal is to preserve the rich visual storytelling that has made Crush’s Coaster one of the standout attractions inspired by Finding Nemo.

Guests may not notice every individual repair when the attraction reopens, but collectively those updates can have a major impact on the overall experience.

Disney routinely refreshes scenery and show elements across its parks to maintain the immersive environments guests expect. For an attraction approaching twenty years of operation, this level of refurbishment represents an opportunity to restore many elements to their original appearance.

What This Means for Disneyland Paris Guests

For guests planning a Disneyland Paris vacation between September 2026 and summer 2027, this closure is something worth considering while building an itinerary.

Crush’s Coaster is not a minor attraction tucked into the corner of the park. It is one of Disney Adventure World’s biggest draws and often one of the highest-priority experiences for visitors.

Families with children who love Finding Nemo may be particularly disappointed to find the attraction unavailable during their trip.

The closure could also shift crowd patterns throughout Disney Adventure World. When a ride with consistently high demand closes for an extended period, guests naturally redistribute to other attractions, potentially increasing wait times elsewhere in the park.

That does not mean Disney Adventure World will lack things to do. The park still offers a variety of attractions, shows, and experiences. However, losing one of its most popular rides for nearly a year will certainly be noticeable.

For returning visitors who have experienced Crush’s Coaster before, the closure may simply become another chapter in the attraction’s history.

For first-time visitors, however, it means waiting until summer 2027 to experience one of Disneyland Paris’ most beloved adventures.

Looking Ahead to Summer 2027

While a ten-month closure may feel lengthy, Disneyland Paris is positioning the project as an investment in the attraction’s future.

The combination of technical modernization, track work, upgraded systems, refreshed scenery, and extensive testing represents one of the most ambitious refurbishment efforts ever undertaken for Crush’s Coaster.

When guests eventually return to the East Australian Current next summer, the goal is simple: deliver the same experience fans have loved since 2007 while ensuring it continues operating reliably for many years to come.

If you have a Disneyland Paris trip planned during the closure period, let us know how this affects your plans. For many Disney fans, Crush’s Coaster is a must-do attraction, making this one of the most significant ride closures the resort has announced in years.
