After shutting down a portion of Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom Park in January, Walt Disney World Resort has finally unveiled a replacement structure in the area. Let’s take a look at the latest construction developments on the Pete’s Silly Sideshow tent in the Storybook Circus area of the original Central Florida Disney park.
Replacement in Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom Park
In January, Walt Disney World Resort announced the indefinite closure of Pete’s Silly Sideshow, a tent in the Storybook Circus section of the New Fantasyland area at Magic Kingdom Park. The building houses circus-themed meet-and-greets with Daisy Duck, Goofy, Donald Duck, and Minnie Mouse. All four characters relocated to outdoor meet-and-greets in the Storybook Circus area.

The refurbishment project wasn’t a surprise. The Pete’s Silly Sideshow tent was in rough shape for several months prior, with visible tears in the roof area. Construction walls surrounded the building almost immediately after the closure, and now, four months later, the brand-new tent roof is finally in place.
On April 29, WDWNT shared this photo of the brand-new two-toned red Pete’s Silly Sideshow roof towering above the construction walls in Storybook Circus:
Walt Disney World Resort still has not announced a reopening date for Pete’s Silly Sideshow or its attached gift shop, Big Top Souvenirs. The merchandise location is also inside a tent, and Disney seemingly plans to replace the roof portion of this structure, too.
How the Construction Impacts Walt Disney World Guests

Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Daisy Duck, and Donald Duck continue greeting guests outdoors throughout Storybook Circus. The free “Smellephants on Parade” has been altered as two of the scented elephant statues are behind construction walls. To earn a free sticker during the refurbishment period, Magic Kingdom Park guests only have to find six elephants instead of eight.
