As of April 8, it appears that a mystery construction project on the exterior of the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is now complete. Here’s what Central Florida Disney Park guests need to know.

Construction Appears on Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run

Back on March 16, Inside the Magic reported that scaffolding and scrim had appeared on the back portion of the Millennium Falcon structure in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The Smugglers Run attraction remained open and operational, and Walt Disney World Resort did not publicly acknowledge its plans for the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy.

The news came as Walt Disney World Resort plans to debut a new storyline on Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run inspired by The Mandalorian & Grogu (2026). The updated mission will debut on May 22, the same day the film hits theaters.

On Wednesday, WDWNT reported that the scaffolding and scrim on the exterior of the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run structure had been removed. Disney Park guests didn’t notice any changes to the area; the construction equipment was likely used to reach inaccessible areas for routine maintenance.

Walt Disney World Resort still hasn’t publicly acknowledged the maintenance project on Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. It’s unclear if Disney plans to do more work on the exterior of the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge attraction.

Both Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort have been doing routine maintenance around their versions of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge as they prepare to transition half of the Lucasfilm-themed lands to the original trilogy timeline. Half of Batuu will remain set in the sequel timeline, while the other half will go back in time to allow the appearance of characters like Leia Organa, Hans Solo, Luke Skywalker, and Darth Vader.

Disneyland Park will make this shift on April 29, but an exact date for Disney’s Hollywood Studios hasn’t been announced.
