An unexpected attack has occurred at one Disney park – and the entire incident was caught on camera.

Disney parks typically operate as a streamlined machine, which is why it’s so notable when something goes wrong. Most commonly, these incidents involve minor issues such as ride breakdowns – something the likes of Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! experience all too often – or inclement weather.

But sometimes, these incidents are a little bit more bizarre.

In recent days, Disney has made headlines for humorous hiccups such as its new walking-and-talking Olaf audio-animatronic collapsing in World of Frozen.

Now, an even more bizarre animatronic incident has occurred – this time, involving Rapunzel and a couple of ravenous crows.

Disney Guests Witness Shocking Audio-Animatronic Attack

Guests in Tokyo DisneySea’s Fantasy Springs area witnessed its Rapunzel animatronic being torn apart by crows.

The animatronic was targeted by the birds at the top of her tower, from which she gazes down at guests during the early stages of the land’s Rapunzel’s Lantern Festival boat ride.

Sea’s Rapunzel is getting eaten by a crow, that’s bad.

The entire incident was caught on camera, with videos showing the crows tearing out clumps of Rapunzel’s hair.

No official explanation has been provided. The footage appears to show the crows carrying away the material, which may indicate they were gathering items to construct a nest.

According to more recent updates from guests at Tokyo DisneySea, the animatronic has now been removed from the tower. This is presumed to be a temporary measure while it undergoes repairs. However, it remains unclear how long the process will take or whether assistance from Walt Disney Imagineering will be required.

Rapunzel is not here right now!

Notably, Tokyo DisneySea – just like its neighbor, Tokyo Disneyland – is owned by The Oriental Land Company (OLC), which works with The Walt Disney Company via a licensing agreement. Walt Disney Imagineering designs the attractions, but OLC operates them.

While Rapunzel is absent from her tower, the rest of the attraction remains operational.

First opened in 2024, Rapunzel’s Lantern Festival is a slow-moving boat ride. Guests follow Rapunzel and Flynn Rider through scenes from Tangled (2010), traveling from the tower to the kingdom’s annual lantern festival. Using advanced animatronics (most of which are indoors, so slightly more protected from rogue crow attacks), lighting, and projection effects, Rapunzel’s Lantern Festival recreates the film’s iconic lantern scene.

The slow-moving dark ride focuses on romance and storytelling, ending with thousands of floating lanterns illuminating the lagoon. While it’s received rave reviews from guests for the lantern scene in particular, it’s also generated criticism for its brevity.

Elsewhere in Fantasy Springs, guests can explore immersive lands themed to Disney films. Beyond Tangled, the port includes detailed environments inspired by Frozen (2013) and Peter Pan (1953), each designed to expand the storytelling of the original movies through rides, restaurants, and character experiences.

Other major attractions include Anna and Elsa’s Frozen Journey – a boat ride retelling the story of Frozen, similar to Frozen Ever After at EPCOT, Hong Kong Disneyland, and the newly-opened Disney Adventure World – and Peter Pan’s Never Land Adventure, a trackless ride set in Never Land. Families can also board Fairy Tinker Bell’s Busy Buggies in the Pixie Hollow area.

What’s the wildest thing you’ve ever witnessed at Disney?
