Credit: Disney Parks BlogWalt Disney World Resort has finally wrapped up a pavement replacement project that’s forced guests to avoid part of Main Street, U.S.A., at Magic Kingdom Park for several weeks. The area is still blocked off, but should be open to visitors soon.
Pavement Update on Main Street, U.S.A., at Magic Kingdom Park
About three weeks ago, stanchions connected by rope appeared surrounding a section of sidewalk pavement near the Crystal Arts store on Main Street, U.S.A., at the Magic Kingdom. Disney cast members poured new pavement in the area shortly thereafter, but another part of the walkway was still covered by plywood.
Now, the plywood has been removed, and new pavement is visible in the area. This section of the walkway is still roped off and stanchioned as the pavement cures, but it should be open and accessible to Magic Kingdom Park guests soon. WDW News Today shared this photo of the patched pavement on Facebook:
The Crystal Arts store and all other nearby merchandise locations continue to operate normally.
More Work Incoming?
Now that this patch of pavement is noticeably pinker and newer than the surrounding areas, Walt Disney World Resort may continue to replace the walkway on Main Street, U.S.A., in sections.
Walt Disney World Resort hasn’t publicly commented on the rotating pavement touch-ups on Main Street, U.S.A., at Magic Kingdom Park, which isn’t unusual for projects of this scale. As summer approaches, Disney is likely prepping one of its busiest theme park thoroughfares for higher crowds and constant traffic.
Over in Frontierland on the other side of the Magic Kingdom, Walt Disney World Resort is busy building the new Piston Peak National Park area inspired by Cars (2006) and a brand-new Disney Villains land “beyond Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.”
