The environmental storytelling embedded into every corner of Black Spire Outpost operates on a level that most theme park experiences cannot match, with props, overheard conversations, in-universe signage, and retail experiences all contributing to a single immersive fiction.

Among the land’s most distinctive retail destinations is Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities, a shop that functions as something more than a place to buy merchandise.

It is a fully realized character space, presided over by the ancient Ithorian collector Dok-Ondar, and stocked with lightsabers, holocrons, artifacts, and rare items that feel like they have been sourced from across the galaxy rather than manufactured for a theme park gift shop. For guests who have planned a Disneyland visit around a stop at Dok-Ondar’s, or who are specifically making the trip to purchase a particular lightsaber or artifact, the news that the shop has entered an unplanned closure is worth knowing about before you arrive. Theme Park IQ reported the closure on X this morning, and the timing is notable given how much is already in motion at Disneyland’s version of Galaxy’s Edge as the land prepares for a significant story transition later this month.

Theme Park IQ shared the update on X: “Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities in Disneyland will be closed today and tomorrow, reopening Wednesday. This was an abrupt refurbishment added this morning.”

The closure is unplanned, which distinguishes it from the scheduled maintenance windows that Disney typically adds to its refurbishment calendar in advance. An abrupt closure added the same morning suggests either a maintenance issue that needed immediate attention or an operational decision made quickly rather than planned weeks out. Disney has not provided a public explanation for the closure. Based on the information shared by Theme Park IQ, the shop is expected to reopen on Wednesday.

For guests with Disneyland visits falling today or tomorrow, Dok-Ondar’s will not be accessible. The rest of Galaxy’s Edge, including Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, continues to operate as usual. Savi’s Workshop, the land’s other major retail experience for custom lightsaber building, has not been reported as affected by any closure.

The Broader Context at Galaxy’s Edge Right Now

The Dok-Ondar’s closure arrives at a moment when Disneyland’s Galaxy’s Edge is already in active transition ahead of a significant story change. Disney has confirmed that the land will undergo a timeline shift on April 29, 2026, moving half of Galaxy’s Edge from its original sequel trilogy setting to the era of the original Star Wars trilogy. The shift will eventually bring Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Leia Organa to the land, making characters from the original films part of the Batuu story for the first time since the land opened in 2019.

Evidence of that transition is already appearing throughout the land before the official April 29 date. Oga’s Cantina recently completed a months-long refurbishment and reopened with changes that reflect the incoming timeline. DJ R-3X has had all dialogue referencing the First Order and the Resistance removed from his rotation. The cantina’s notice board has been updated with new messages listing Imperial, Rebel, Republic, and Separatist factions, signaling the earlier era. A reference to Captain R. Keevan of the Halcyon, tied to the now-closed Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser at Walt Disney World, has been removed.

Oga’s Cantina has also moved to walk-up only availability, eliminating the advance reservation option that guests previously relied on to secure a spot. That change is in effect now and requires a different approach to planning a cantina visit.

Whether the Dok-Ondar’s closure is connected to any preparation for the April 29 transition is not confirmed. The unplanned nature of the closure makes that connection speculative rather than documented, and Theme Park IQ characterized it as a refurbishment rather than a story update. But the timing, with so much already in motion in the land, adds a layer of context to what might otherwise read as a routine maintenance situation.

What Guests Shopping in Galaxy’s Edge Should Know

Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities is the land’s primary source for finished lightsabers, holocrons, and artifact items that do not require the full Savi’s Workshop custom-build experience. For guests who specifically planned to purchase from Dok-Ondar’s inventory during a Disneyland visit today or tomorrow, the shop will not be open. The closure is expected to end Wednesday, and guests with flexible schedules who can adjust their visit timing should plan to return then.

For guests on fixed visit dates that include only today or tomorrow, Savi’s Workshop remains the in-land option for lightsaber experiences, though the format and price point are different from what Dok-Ondar’s offers. The Galaxy’s Edge merchandise available through other retail locations at Disneyland may cover some of the same categories, though the Dok-Ondar’s character experience itself is unique to that space.

Guests visiting Galaxy’s Edge at any point before April 29 are experiencing the land in its transitional state, with some updates already in place and more arriving on the official changeover date. The half of the land that includes Oga’s Cantina is already reflecting the original trilogy era through its updated messaging and DJ rotation. Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and its section of the land remain set in the sequel era.

The timeline shift has only been confirmed for Disneyland’s version of Galaxy’s Edge. Disney’s Hollywood Studios has not announced a similar change for its land.

We will update if any additional information about the Dok-Ondar’s closure becomes available before Wednesday. For the most current picture of what is open and what is changing at Disneyland’s Galaxy’s Edge through the April 29 timeline shift, our Disneyland guide is updated regularly. Check it before your visit so your plans reflect what is actually available when you walk through the gates.
