There’s a new construction update from the EPCOT World Showcase after Walt Disney World Resort announced the transformation of a long-standing dining location into a sponsored snack kiosk attached to the Canada Pavilion. Here’s everything to know about the project.

EPCOT World Showcase Closure

Refreshment Port, a popular spot for DOLE Whip and specialty poutine near the Canada World Showcase Pavilion at EPCOT, closed in March. Construction walls surrounded the structure beginning in early March, and Walt Disney World Resort kept quiet about its plans for the building for several months.

Finally, in early April, Walt Disney World Resort and Air Canada announced that Air Canada would sponsor a new Quick-Service dining location at EPCOT. The Canada World Showcase Pavilion is absorbing the former Refreshment Port, transforming it into La Poutinerie: bringing “a Canadian classic with a twist.”

Refreshment Port previously sold standard and specialty poutine, so it’s unclear how the La Poutinerie menu will differ from its predecessor. However, the concept art from Walt Disney World Resort shows several aesthetic changes, including new signage, an updated color scheme, and figures of Canadian geese.

On April 29, WDWNT reported that construction lights had appeared above the plywood walls near the former Refreshment Port kiosk. The new equipment suggests that Walt Disney World Resort is kicking the building’s transformation into high gear, with crews doing the major construction at night.

Walt Disney World Resort has not announced a grand opening date for La Poutinerie in the Canada World Showcase Pavilion at EPCOT. The current operational calendar runs through June 27, and the dining location does not have posted operating hours on that date.
