More construction barricades have recently appeared in the area, causing congestion on walkways and reducing seating near the kiosk. Here’s the latest update on the mystery project at the original Southern California Disney park.
Construction Barricades in Fantasyland at Disneyland
Inside the Magic first reported that construction walls had appeared on and around Edelweiss Snacks on March 31. This is the third construction projection on the Fantasyland kiosk in less than a year: scaffolding and a fabric scrim briefly appeared around the building in the summer of 2025, and in February 2026, the entire Quick-Service dining location closed for confirmed refurbishment. It reopened on March 5 with little visible or menu changes.
Then, at the end of March, more construction walls arrived near Edelweiss Snacks. The Fantasyland kiosk remained open, serving its typical menu of Turkey Legs, Cheesy Garlic Pretzel Bread, and more.
On April 6, construction walls blocked Fantasia Gardens, a seating area near Edelweiss Snacks that took over the former Motor Boat Cruise dock in Fantasyland. This sparked rumors that Disneyland Resort was refurbishing the popular guest resting spot or creating a new one.
Latest Update on the Mystery Project Near Edelweiss Snacks
Now, Disney Park guests are getting their first look at what’s taking shape near Edelweiss Snacks. On April 28, WDWNT shared a photo of the site, where a wooden building is rising behind the construction barriers. It features dark wood, curved archways, and steep roofs, matching the aesthetic of the rest of Fantasyland at Disneyland Park.
Disneyland Resort hasn’t confirmed what it’s building in the area, but it appears to be an open-air structure. Most likely, it’s a new seating area replacing the now-closed Fantasia Gardens location. It’s unclear when the project will wrap up, but Edelweiss Snacks remains open during the construction.
