With just 27 days to go until the grand reopening of the reimagined Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets attraction, Walt Disney World Resort has removed one of the iconic guitars from the show building at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Here’s the latest on the ongoing construction at the third Central Florida Disney park.
Rock’ n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets

After confirming that Muppet*Vision 3D and Muppets Courtyard would close permanently to make way for a Monsters, Inc. (2001) land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Walt Disney World Resort offered a consolation prize for Jim Henson fans: Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith would be reimagined into Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets.
The rethemed Sunset Boulevard attraction, inspired by The Muppets Mayhem series, will feature the Muppet band covering “Song 2,” “Born to be Wild” (featuring Camilla the Chicken), “Love Rollercoaster” (featuring Jennifer Hudson & Questlove), “Rock! Rock! (Till You Drop)” (featuring Def Leppard), and “Walking on Sunshine” (featuring Kelly Clarkson). The band’s sold-out show (likely on a screen after the ride) will include a performance of their original song, “Can You Picture That?”.

The pre-show will include audio-animatronics of Electric Mayhem band members Dr. Teeth (Bill Barretta), Animal (Eric Jacobson), Floyd Pepper (Matt Vogel), Janice (David Rudman), Zoot (Dave Goelz), and Lips (Peter Linz), as well as Scooter, Kermit, Miss Piggy, and penguins. Several celebrity cameos have been revealed for the queue, including Weird Al Yankovic, Awkwafina, Travis Barker, Wayne Brady, Yvette Nicole Brown, Darren Criss, Neil Patrick Harris, John Stamos, and Danny Trejo.
Rock’ n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith closed permanently in March. Over the last two months, Walt Disney World Resort guests have been able to watch crews give the upside-down car and giant guitar on the building’s exterior a Muppet-inspired rainbow:
Scaffolding is down at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, and the completed Stratocaster guitar is now visible. The final paint scheme runs heavier on pink than the concept art suggested, making it a bigger departure from the Aerosmith era than expected.

This week, though, a different guitar went missing from the outside of the show building.
Rock’ n’ Roller Coaster Guitar Demolished at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

On April 30, WDWNT reported that the guitar-shaped Rock Around the Shop sign had been removed from the exit of the post-ride gift shop for Rock’ n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith. Rolling planters currently block the doorway, but the sign had previously been visible above them.
The merchandise location is expected to reopen with a Muppets theme, so a new thematic sign will likely be installed sometime in the next 27 days.
When Will The Muppets Roller Coaster Open?

Rock’ n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets opens at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on May 26, 2026. Walt Disney World Resort has confirmed that Annual Passholders, Disney cast members, and Disney Vacation Club members will have the chance to book time slots for previews of the reimagined attraction.
