The Liberty Belle Riverboat hasn’t disappeared after all.
Nearly a year after it was quietly removed from guest view, new aerial images show the vessel still afloat at Magic Kingdom.

The update comes as the park continues one of its most aggressive overhauls in decades.
Disney Ride Not Demolished
When Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island closed on July 7, 2025, the Liberty Belle Riverboat was quietly removed from operation at the same time.
The river itself has since been drained, with visible construction reshaping the footprint as Disney prepares a new Cars Land expansion behind Frontierland.

Almost immediately, attention shifted to what would happen to the vessel itself, which had been a fixture of the park for decades.
Online speculation escalated quickly, with claims circulating that Disney had already dismantled or scrapped the boat — despite no official confirmation and no visual evidence to support it.
New Photos Tell a Different Story
Fresh aerial images shared by bioreconstruct confirm the Liberty Belle Riverboat is still intact and floating in a backstage service marina.
The vessel is positioned north of Disney’s Contemporary Resort, in an area not visible to guests.

It has remained there since August 2025, after being removed from the Rivers of America during early construction work.
At one point, the riverboat was moved closer to a boat ramp, fueling speculation that Disney was preparing to tow it elsewhere.
That relocation never happened, and the Liberty Belle has stayed in the same backstage zone in the months since.
No Answers From Disney — Yet
The Walt Disney Company has not commented on what comes next.
The Liberty Belle previously operated as a functioning steam-powered attraction, pulling water from the river to propel itself along a set route.

For now, it sits in storage, largely untouched. Its condition suggests Disney has not made a final decision — or at least, not one it’s ready to share.
The new Cars area will be set inside Piston Peak National Park, a fictional wilderness inspired by the Rocky Mountains and America’s national parks. Disney has said the area will include towering trees, snowcapped mountains, waterfalls, rivers, and geysers, with two attractions planned for the reimagined Frontierland space.
Disney has separately confirmed a Disney Villains-themed land for Magic Kingdom, with two major attractions, dining, and shopping planned on a twisted grand scale. Reports have suggested that Disney’s new CEO, Josh D’Amaro, has challenged Walt Disney Imagineers to think even bigger when conceptualizing the project.
