Disney Cruise Line updated a splash pad after a toddler broke their femur playing in the area. The news comes straight from the child’s mom, who noticed the change on a second voyage on the Disney Dream.

This week, Instagram user Courtney Livingston (@courtneylivin) shared a video taken on a recent trip on the Disney Dream. Livingston’s young son previously fell from a coral-shaped play structure on the Finding Nemo (2003) splash pad and broke his femur. Disney Cruise Line gifted the family another voyage on the Disney Dream, where she discovered that the company had updated the play area following her son’s injury.

Disney Cruise Line removed the coral-shaped play area where Livingston’s son fell and replaced the flooring. It’s unclear whether this change is permanent or if Disney is exploring a safer version of the play structure.

“The rest of the splash pad is the same…,” Livingston wrote. “Play at your own risk!”

The Nemo’s Reef splash pad is exclusively for guests aged four and under, though parental supervision is required at all times. The Disney Fantasy has an identical water play area, but it’s unclear whether that ship made the same changes as the ones on the Disney Dream.

Disney Cruise Line hasn’t commented publicly on the changes to the Nemo’s Reef splash pad area.
