Absolutely. Synder’s vision is believable and relatable. The way Crowe, Zurer, Costner, and Lane portrayed his parents was outstanding. The way they shaped the man he’d become was so well done and even endearing.

You could feel the impact through Cavill’s performance—the restraint, internal struggle, and responsibility he carried. Even the weight of General Zod’s burden was something you could connect with. Shannon was fantastic too.

The costumes and visuals were also so on point and really added a level of realism you could connect with.

Gunn’s version was this campy almost mockery of Superman. His Earth parents were downright comical. His Kryptonian parents sullying his lineage. He can’t even handle a dog. He was childish, impulsive, and immature. He didn’t inspire confidence in being the type of hero you’d want to lead humankind.

The acting was cartoony, the visuals were hilarious, it was a far cry from what you’d expect from Gunn. It was horrible.

His work with Suicide Squad, Peace Maker, and Blue Beetle is fantastic. Even the preview for Supergirl looks great. But this was a mess.

Snyder and Henry Cavill set the bar for Superman and Gunn didn’t even come close.
