Spider-Man fans won’t have to wait much longer for Tom Holland’s next Marvel Cinematic Universe adventure. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is officially only a few months away, and the excitement around the film continues to grow. Ever since the project was announced, speculation has exploded across fan communities about what direction Marvel Studios plans to take with Peter Parker’s next story.
One topic in particular keeps coming up: the villains.
Spider-Man films have always delivered memorable enemies, and Marvel has built a reputation for surprising fans with unexpected character reveals. Because of that history, many viewers believe Brand New Day could feature one of the most interesting villain lineups the character has faced yet.
The timing also makes the question even more intriguing. At the end of Peter’s last film, everything about his life changed. The world forgot who he was, his closest relationships disappeared, and the safety net he once had in the Avengers is gone.
Now Peter Parker is stepping into a completely new phase of his life.
That shift opens the door for a different kind of Spider-Man story, one where Peter is more isolated and forced to deal with threats on his own. With the movie quickly approaching its release, Marvel has started offering small hints about who those threats might be.
And the latest update suggests Spider-Man may be facing more enemies than ever before.

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man Has Faced Some Huge Threats
Tom Holland’s Spider-Man has already battled an impressive list of villains during his time in the MCU.
His solo journey began in Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), which focused on a younger Peter Parker still figuring out how to balance school life with the responsibilities of being a superhero. That film introduced Adrian Toomes, also known as Vulture, a criminal who used salvaged alien technology to build powerful weapons and a flight suit, making him a serious threat.
Peter’s next adventure came in Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), where he traveled across Europe while dealing with the aftermath of Avengers: Endgame (2019). During that trip, Peter encountered Quentin Beck, also known as Mysterio, a villain who used advanced illusion technology to create fake monster attacks and manipulate the world.
The stakes became even higher in Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021). After Mysterio revealed Peter’s identity to the public, Peter turned to Doctor Strange for help. The spell that was meant to fix things instead opened the Multiverse and pulled in villains from other Spider-Man universes.
Doctor Octopus, Green Goblin, Electro, Sandman, and the Lizard all appeared, creating one of the most villain-packed superhero films ever made.
By the end of the story, Peter made the painful decision to allow Doctor Strange to erase him from everyone’s memory. That sacrifice saved the Multiverse but left Peter completely alone as he stepped into a new chapter of his life.

Marvel Teases a Bigger Villain Roster
Now, Spider-Man: Brand New Day appears ready to build on that new beginning.
Marvel Studios recently pulled back the curtain on two villains tied to the upcoming film. Even though the identity of the movie’s main antagonist is still being kept secret, the early information suggests that Peter Parker will be facing a large group of enemies this time around.
Despite being one of the youngest heroes in the MCU, Spider-Man has already gone head-to-head with major threats across his solo trilogy and two Avengers films, including battles connected to Josh Brolin’s Thanos.
Brand New Day could push things even further.
Reports surrounding the movie indicate that more villains may appear than in any previous Spider-Man film. Some of these characters operate at the street level as mercenaries or criminals rather than global threats, which could bring the story back to a more grounded New York setting.
At the same time, some rumors suggest the film could introduce far more chaotic elements. One of the most surprising possibilities involves Mark Ruffalo appearing as a Savage Hulk, which would instantly raise the stakes for Peter Parker.
For now, Marvel is keeping most details secret. But the information that has already surfaced suggests that Spider-Man may soon find himself surrounded by enemies.

Boomerang and Tarantula Make Their MCU Debut
The first official reveal of new villains didn’t come from a trailer or press conference. Instead, it came through merchandise tied to Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
The products revealed Boomerang and Tarantula, two Marvel Comics villains. Their inclusion makes them the 15th and 16th solo foes officially tied to Tom Holland’s Spider-Man across his films.
Fred Myers, better known as Boomerang, is a former baseball pitcher who turned to mercenary work after his sports career ended. In the comics, he is famous for using specially designed boomerangs as weapons. These gadgets range from razor-edged projectiles to explosive versions, making him a dangerous opponent even without superpowers.
The second character revealed through merchandise is Tarantula. His real name is Anton Miguel Rodriguez, a South American mercenary who wears a spider-themed suit. Unlike Spider-Man, however, Tarantula doesn’t have enhanced abilities and relies instead on combat training and weapons.
Both villains represent the more grounded side of Spider-Man’s rogues’ gallery. Their presence suggests that Brand New Day may delve deeper into the criminal underworld of New York than recent Spider-Man films have.

Rumors Suggest Even More Villains
While Boomerang and Tarantula are the newest confirmed additions, they may only be the beginning.
Several other villains have already been rumored to appear in the movie. One of the most frequently mentioned names is Chameleon, a master of disguise and one of Spider-Man’s earliest comic book enemies.
Another rumor points to Harry Osborn—or possibly Ned Leeds—taking a darker turn, placing them on the villain side of the story. If that happens, it could create an emotional conflict for Peter Parker that hits much closer to home.
Other rumored characters include Ramrod and the unusual comic book villain 8-Ball. The Punisher has also been mentioned in some discussions, though it’s unclear whether he would appear as a villain or a rival antihero.
Then there is the unexpected possibility of Savage Hulk entering the story. If Mark Ruffalo truly appears in that form, it would introduce a completely different level of danger for Spider-Man.
At this stage, Marvel has confirmed very little, but the speculation continues to grow as the film approaches.

The Villains We Know for Sure
Even with all the rumors circulating, only two villains are technically confirmed for Spider-Man: Brand New Day right now.
The first is Mac Gargan, also known as Scorpion, played by Michael Mando. The character briefly appeared in Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), where he hinted that he wanted revenge on Spider-Man.
The second confirmed villain is Lonnie Lincoln, better known as Tombstone, played by Marvin Jones III. In the comics, Tombstone is a powerful crime boss who controls major parts of New York’s underworld.
With Peter Parker now living as an adult whose identity has been erased from the world, a larger roster of villains could help shape the next stage of his story.
Spider-Man is no longer a high school kid with mentors watching over him. He’s on his own now, and facing multiple enemies at once may be exactly what pushes him to grow into the hero he’s meant to become.
