Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets isn’t scheduled to open at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for another few months, but Jim Henson’s iconic creations are already back at Walt Disney World Resort.
A Turbulent Time for the Muppets at Disney World
It hasn’t been an easy few years for the Muppets that call the Central Florida Disney parks home.

At D23 Expo 2024, Walt Disney World Resort announced plans to finally bring a long-rumored “door coaster” inspired by Monsters, Inc. (2001) to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The concept art even revealed an entire Monstropolis land, but left some ambiguity about where in the park it would be located.
Walt Disney Imagineering seemed to be waffling between Animation Courtyard and Muppets Courtyard/Grand Avenue for a potential Monsters, Inc. retheme. Jim Henson fans rallied to keep Muppets Courtyard, especially Muppet*Vision 3D. However, Disney eventually revealed that Muppets Courtyard would close to make way for Monstropolis.

Muppet*Vision 3D welcomed its final guests last summer. Disney preserved the film and recently revealed plans to bring the attraction experience to VR headsets. But that’s not the only way Disney Parks fans will enjoy Muppets content in the future.
On March 2, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith permanently closed at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Walt Disney World Resort is retheming the attraction to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, inspired by the musical Muppets Mayhem series. The reimagined roller coaster is scheduled to reopen in the summer of 2026.

With just months until the updated Disney’s Hollywood Studios attraction debuts, Muppets fans will have to get their fix by visiting a new, limited-time display at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
Miss Piggy, Kermit, & Friends Take Over Disney’s Contemporary Resort
This week, Walt Disney World Resort installed chocolate Easter egg displays at several Disney Resort hotels as part of an annual spring tradition. This year, the display at Disney’s Contemporary Resort is all about the Muppets. The display is located in the lobby of the Deluxe Disney Resort hotel, near Steakhouse 71.

The star of the show is, of course, a magnificent sculpture of Miss Piggy. Behind her are Statler and Waldorf in their theater booth, as well as eight Muppet eggs in archways. Inspired by the opening of The Muppet Show, the eggs depict Kermit the Frog, Beaker, Dr. Bunsen Honeydew, the Swedish Chef, Fozzie Bear, Sam Eagle, Sweetums, and Animal.
On Facebook, WDW News Today shared this photo of the elegant creations hand-crafted by talented Disney cast members:
These chocolate eggs will remain on display through at least Easter: Sunday, April 6. Check them out while you can!
