What Is Butterbeer Season and When Does It Run?
Butterbeer Season is an annual celebration that runs across Universal’s Wizarding World locations worldwide each spring. The event was established as a Warner Bros. Discovery global franchise initiative to celebrate the flavor, scent, and imagery of the iconic beverage first introduced in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
For 2025, the dates are as follows:
- Universal Orlando Resort: March 1 – May 31
- Universal Studios Hollywood: March 1 – May 31
- Universal Beijing Resort: March 1 – May 31
- Universal Studios Japan: April 1 – May 17
Each park brings its own lineup of limited-time food and merchandise, with Universal Orlando and Universal Studios Hollywood receiving the most extensive offerings this year.
New Treats Coming to Universal Orlando and Universal Studios Hollywood
The signature new item for Butterbeer Season 2025 is the Butterbeer Waffle, available for a limited time at the Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade and the Leaky Cauldron in Diagon Alley. If past Butterbeer seasonal items are any guide, this one is going to be all over social media within the first week.
Universal Orlando is also introducing several other limited-time treats exclusive to the season:
A new Butterbeer Cupcake, Butterbeer Cookie Sandwich, Butterbeer Candy Apple, and Butterbeer Shortbread Bar will be available at Honeydukes in Hogsmeade and Sugarplum’s Sweet Shop in Diagon Alley. Over at the Ministry of Magic in Epic Universe, Café L’air de la Siréne will offer a Biéraubeurre Crème Brûlée — a French-inspired take on the classic that fits the Parisian aesthetic of the new land perfectly.
Perhaps the most exciting permanent addition: Butterbeer-flavored truffles and macarons will debut during Butterbeer Season and then stick around year-round at K. Rammelle confectionary shop in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic at Epic Universe. If you are planning a post-opening visit to Epic Universe, those are going on the must-try list.
At Universal Studios Hollywood, the fan-favorite Butterbeer Cream Puff makes its return for the season.
Epic Universe Adds a Whole New Dimension
This is the first Butterbeer Season that will include The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic at Universal Epic Universe, and that alone makes the 2025 event historic. Guests visiting Universal Orlando this spring will have access to three separate Wizarding World areas — Diagon Alley, Hogsmeade, and Ministry of Magic — all running Butterbeer Season programming simultaneously.

A new collection of Butterbeer-themed merchandise is available this season across retail locations in The Wizarding World at both Universal Orlando and Universal Studios Hollywood, and online at shopuniversal.com. The 2025 collection includes a Spirit Jersey, t-shirt, bucket hat, and additional items. Universal Beijing Resort will also carry a limited-edition collectible Harry Potter 25 Years of Magic Butterbeer Stein, which is the kind of thing that sells out fast.
