I’m 6′ 300 and fit most rides, although the Hulk has a hard plastic cupped seat that my ass doesn’t fit in, Hagrid’s is tight and can only ride the bike, velocicoaster is no problem. The mummy and the Harry Potter motion Sim rides are also no problem…

I’m 5’6″ and 280 lbs. I need to lose 80 lbs gained after I lost my father. I can ride a good portion of these rides. As for the others, I am not banned from them. I can easily ride them with a little work on ny part. If I choose to be lazy, and stay at the weight I am, that’s on me. The issue is not the design. The issue is we are getting more and more permissive of unhealthy lifestyles.
And yes, I’m very aware that there are people that have health issues that make it harder to lose weight. I suffer from 2 such diseases. It sucks. But riding rides at a theme park is not a right. It’s a privilege.

      YOU CAN DO IT!!

I’m a pretty big dude and the only ride I’ve had to walk away from is the Harry Potter ride inside the castle. It’s been a few years though so who knows.

Yo I am a Heavier person and I would never say “They need to make things bigger for me as a fat person” that’s entitled and also you’re asking them to redesign the entirety of the park so fat people can ride the rides. NO as fat people we need to lose weight to fit on the rides FOR OUR OWN SAFETY. This article is wild.

Plus size lmao??? Is that what we calling morbidly obese people!? The people who can not fit in the rides listed is NOT Plus size, these are very morbidly obese people. Do not categorize them as plus size!

Well aren’t you just a ray of sunshine. Not everyone stuffs their face with food. Could be medical condition, could be medicines. Have a little compassion. Are there people who are plus size due to overeating YES, but still no reason to be mean

      1. Lynne

Just came back from there and couldn’t fit on several rides. I gained 20 pounds from surgery/hormones in the last 4 years. In 2021 I fit on everything. It varied from my arms to my hips to my thighs. Very depressing.

      2. Ohta

The majority of people who are obese are that way due to eating habits and laziness. Those with medical conditions are a minority of a minority and even then are fully capable of managing their weight with some effort. Stop making excuses for a severe problem in this country. There’s no real excuse to be overweight for the large majority of people that are considered obese.

I think the first commenter was differentiating between being somewhat overweight, and being extremely morbidly obese. From what I know, even meds known to cause weight gain (antipsychotics, corticosteroids, antidepressants, etc.) are generally known to only cause between a10-15% initial increase in one’s body weight (so a 200lb person could attribute maybe an 20-30 extra lbs to their meds).

Even then, the correct thing to do for medication-induced weight gain is to use one’s own personal agency to make accompanying lifestyle changes to properly account for and counteract it, not just let it ride for years and years as the weight continues to pack on.

Most-anyone who is blaming their medication for becoming morbidly obese is simply shifting the blame off their own lifestyle choices and on to an external factor.

I do truly feel horrible for those who have let themselves get to the point that they are so overweight that they can’t participate in certain aspects of our society, but the answer isn’t for society at-large to bend and change itself to suit their distinctly unhealthy lifestyle choices, the answer is for those people to take responsibility for, and control over, their own behavior.

Universal will subsidize the cost of Ozempic for 24 months with a minimum of a 5 night stay in one of its signature hotel properties.

    3. Songbird

      That’s cruel.

  5. Stephen

“Many people”…? No. The thing that always stands out when you’re at a theme park is “that one really fat woman who couldn’t get on the rollercoaster”. Read it again..”that…one”. That’s why the memory sticks. Don’t be talking as if there’s streams of fat people being turfed off of the rollercoasters. This simply is not the case.

I’m a plus size person I well aware that I won’t fit on some of the rides I have no problem with that but I would like the test seats be before you join the queue and maybe behind a wall so it is private and the person trying the won’t feel humiliated

    1. Snikkidy Poppins

See this is an entirely reasonable suggestion for accommodations that are designed to shield people from public humiliation. I think this is a great idea 👍

  7. Oingo

My wife isn’t considered plus sized but has big breasts and it is hard for her to ride some of these rides. There should be test seats before going in so she doesn’t have to wait 45 minutes to 2 hours so she doesn’t ride the ride.

  8. Doug

I’m 6′-7″. I have encountered rides with over the shoulder restraints that wouldn’t lock into place. It doesn’t embarrass or offend me when that happens. I recognize that shoulder restraints that would fit me would be dangerous for the vast majority of the other people. Perhaps a maximum height sign next to the minimum height sign would save me wasting time waiting in line for a ride that doesn’t fit me

  9. James

I’m just….. Hungry there I said it for allllllllll the fat people! 😂

Now politely F off and get me a snack thx

  10. Thormod

Please do not attempt to normalize excessive obesity.
Size limitations exist for actual physical limitations as well… a coaster with 10 400lb people has more inertia than planned on and ride experience changes drastically..our body physically can not and should not take such a load at some points of weight and size.
I’m 6′ and 270 – and far too large for my own good, but at least I am willing to admit it’s not good to be huge

  11. Songbird

I used to be “plus sized” until I lost 125 pounds. I was never turned away from a ride at Universal — though to be honest there are a few rides there, so intense that I would never ride regardless of whether or not I fit into the seat. I was turned away from Avatar at Disney — that’s a motorcycle type ride and my legs didn’t fit. Fortunately it happened at the test seat. A friend of mine was turned away at Harry Potter — she fit into the test seat but not the actual ride seat. That needs to be fixed.

“Epic Universe Didn’t Fix “the Problem”…”

Calling it “the Problem” IS “the problem”….

The REAL problem is Gluttony! Not to be self righteous, but
sin is called “sin” because its usually BAD FOR YA!! VERY bad for ya!!

Being THAT huge, I’m looking at YOU “Plus Size Park Hoppers”, should NEVER be seen as “normal” ! Or anywhere near “normal”. It’s not about “acceptance”. It’s not about anyone being “phobic”.

….it’s straight up about not being stupid!! Just like smoking-Morbid Obesity is called “Morbid” because IT WILL KILL YOU!
Being 400+ pounds at 5′ 5inches tall is TERRIBLE for ya!! And many are even heavier! I mean think about it: We had enough people at 600lbs and over to have a show about it! Finding 600 pound people seemed to be TOO EASY for the Discovery Channel to do! And do NOT get me started about how many “plus sized” influencers are now pushing up daisies in plus sized caskets!!

Maybe you oughta let the fact that you can’t fit on most rides MOTIVATE you to LOSE WEIGHT!! Look people get into addictions-be they drugs, alcohol, sex, porn or food or whatever to medicate a deeper hurt.

Maybe its not popular to hear this-but maybe the one who created you is VASTLY qualified to minister to your pain? Just sayin’

Either way, if you are “DQ’ed” from riding rides at Universal -or anywhere else for that matter-because you weigh as much as a Volkswagon, then your coping skills are NOT exactly doing you any favors!!

The only problem about “plus sized” people to fix is to get them back into NORMAL sized bodies! Rides need NOT be adjusted because of peoples poor portion control or feeding frequency!

Making a ride somehow “bigger” to accommodate “plus sized” persons makes those same rides more dangerous for those of us that are NOT plus anything! At that point, NO ONE would be able to ride…..

Sorry but look at it this way: The LESS food that goes in-The MORE rides you get to go on…..

    See there~PROBLEM SOLVED!
